We chose not to have children, but Ive never seen an education tax increase I didnt vote for. I mean
what kind of weird (and not in a good way) people wouldnt want all kids to have lunch without any child being stigmatized because they didnt have lunch money? Its not an ultra liberal concept, its a basic, decent, compassionate and smart concept.
I cheered when Governor Walz and the MN legislature made it happen for their state. Now lets go national with it.

(73,386 posts)I have scraped a ton of untouched trays during the little guy lunch. I don't begrudge them the food, but I wish parents would just do one or the other. The silver lining is we compost.

There's no free lunch. That's the stupid & heartless reason I've heard repubs give. It teaches the kids that they don't have to do anything cuz the govt will take care of them. Apparently that lesson is only for the children who, for whatever reasons they have no control over, don't have the support or resources other kids have.
Then there are the schools who feed the kids who can't pay but they give them cheese sandwiches so everyone can see that their lunch account is in arrears. Republicans have gone full on mean.
