I hope I'm wrong but I know nothing would make the old lizard happier than seeing Dems embarrassed and their big evening spoiled.

(54,762 posts)A Pakistani national with ties to Iran was charged with murder-for-hire as part of plot to assassinate a U.S. politician or government official, potentially in response to the Trump administration's 2020 killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday.
Asif Raza Merchant, 46, arrived in the U.S. around April and contacted a person he believed could help him carry out the scheme, the Department of Justice alleged. However, that person told law enforcement about Merchant's plans and became a confidential source.
The charges, filed in a Brooklyn, New York federal courthouse in July, were revealed weeks after an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania political rally.
However, a law enforcement official said investigators so far haven't uncovered evidence linking Merchant to the Pennsylvania attack by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Merchant or an attorney for him couldn't be immediately reached for comment.

(15,359 posts)He was bitching about the empty seats right away and made that accusation. GSU says they treated his campaign the same as Harris's.
If there was a problem, it was Trump's people fucking up or I'll eat my shorts! LOL
He just pulled the same shit at the interview with the black journalists. He holds things up trying to get out of being fact checked, then blames them for it.

(2,376 posts)First, why would you believe they havent been trying to play dirty tricks AT EVERY RALLY SO FAR? Spoiler alert: you bet they have, and you bet they will again tonight AND AT EVERY RALLY UNTIL THE ELECTION. Whether its the standard of grabbing as many seats at a ticketed event as possible, or sending their flying monkeys to protest en masse outside, or something more modern like an AI deepfake afterward, it is being done. Campaigns are all aware of these possibilities and guard against them to the extent possible, usually pretty darned well.
So bank on it, that itll be business as usual on both sides, and most likely it will never have enough effect to attract notice, tonight or in the future.

(2,937 posts)you got the same worry gene I inherited from my mom. I think it will be fine, but I also will be glad when it is over with no surprises. I think SS is probably pretty good at monitoring what's going on, and the event-goers themselves will be watching for MAGAt behavior around them. I also think that MAGAts are cowards at heart, all talk. They also don't want to get shot or sent to prison for years, they saw what happened to trump's shooter and the J6 folks.
