(7,100 posts)Republicans from Utah to Florida are abandoning him. Good grief, there's a whole GOP organization in Arizona, loaded with former and current state officials, mayor of the state's third largest city (because the largest and second largest cities have Democratic mayors), a dozen or so former legislators, big name members of the state GOP, and a cluster of Maricopa County republicans who have formed Republicans for Harris.
The guy can't talk in coherent sentences and all we get is this name calling rage. No plan, nothing except the same tired old accusations that even cause MAGAts to give up and stream out of his half-full rallies before he even gets going.
Honestly when it came down to it, I think Biden would have won. I don't think anywhere near the kind of majority he needs to win would materialize for him. We're on this side of January 6th, and people have seen what an evil, demonic monster he really is.

I recall when Adam Kinzinger announced he was voting Democratic this year, Biden was asked by the balanced media "why not more?". Biden replied he thought as we went along more might be in the mix. And he said it with a look like HE KNEW.
I wouldn't be surprised if the day comes when some retired generals walk out in a group and discuss what a danger Trump is to National Security, and announce they endorse a voting for Harris-Walz.

(7,865 posts)projection, as always. He feels he can beat Biden; I happen to think he's wrong. Biden would have wiped the polls with him. Harris is going to do the same. Old Don is out of touch, in a place of unreality, and is about to have reality come crashing down on him. The only question I have is how far his maga minions will go to try to make his truth a reality via violence after the election. Remember, it was the violence inherit in the Brooks Brothers riot that caused the SCOTUS to take up the selection of our prez vis a vis Gore v Bush.
And just because Old Don would go crashing the RNC if a similar situation had happened to him, doesn't mean a decent, constitution abiding person like Biden would do the same. But Old Don just can't imagine anyone could do something different. He has no idea what it means to be decent and constitutional abiding person... let alone what it means to be human and humane. *rump is going down, and he knows it.

Noems dog killing was bad, but to really understand her, consider the goat
My shot was off and I needed one more shell to finish the job, she wrote.
She studiously avoided saying she wounded the goat with the first shot, but thats the implication.
Not wanting him to suffer, she added apparently experiencing her first twinge of feeling, after saying that killing the dog was not pleasant I hustled back across the pasture to the pickup, grabbed another shell, hurried back to the gravel pit, and put him down.
The goat story not only reflects a disturbing lack of self-control, but also raises a question of law.
. . .
Noem has defended her shooting of the dog, citing legal justification for her actions. Shes likely referencing a state law that exempts from the definition of animal cruelty any reasonable action taken by a person for the destruction or control of an animal known to be dangerous, a threat, or injurious to life, limb, or property.
. . . what Noem did to the goat dragging it to a gravel pit, tying it to a post, shooting at it once, leaving to get another shell, and shooting it again sounds an awful lot like the legal definition of animal cruelty. That definition in South Dakota law is to intentionally, willfully, and maliciously inflict gross physical abuse on an animal that causes prolonged pain, that causes serious physical injury, or that results in the death of the animal.

(8,291 posts)Something is seriously wrong with her. Probably some kind of personality disorder. She has never gotten over her appearance on Wild N Out. She acted a damn fool and continues to do so.
Wild N Out is Nick Cannon's Improv show - Its basically a comedy improv show - 2 teams roasting each other using music or improv skits. How do you go there and get mad when it's your turn to get roasted??? She wasn't treated any differently than other guests in the past. Yes she was called ugly. But that's the kind of show it is, it's a roast, insults fly. If you don't like roasts, why go on a show that does that?
That was several years ago, she's still carrying a grudge and is downright hateful. She wrote a hateful screed and ended it with " I won" - As if celebrating someone's death because she got her feelings hurt during a comedy roast.
This kind of behavior is very MAGA like - They can keep her. She won't be missed.
Azealia Banks slammed for implying Jacky Ohs death was karma for D.C. Young Fly
Azealia Banks is getting slammed on social media for implying that Jacky Ohs death was karma for D.C. Young Fly, who previously made jokes about the rapper on an episode of Wild N Out.
In 2018, the Anna Wintour musician, 32, accused the cast of the Nick Cannon-created improv comedy show of mistreating her while she appeared as a guest.
Banks accused D.C. whose real name is John Whitfield and the other comedians of making colorist jokes about her, adding that she cried as a result of the alleged ridicule.
Though the episode was taped over five years ago, the 212 rapper brought it back up while speaking out about the How High 2 actor, 31, as he mourned the death of his longtime partner.

(13,536 posts)First graph at the following link is a detailed graph of wealth by percentile. (Can click a year to see evolution.)
https://apps.urban.org/features/wealth-inequality-charts/
Other surveys look even worse:
When it comes to Americans actual net worth, 31% say their net worth is $0 or in the negative, meaning their total amount of liabilities meets or exceeds their assets. This trend is exaggerated among younger generations, in particular Gen Z, 41% of which have a net worth of $0 or less, along with 38% of millennials. More concerning, however, a significant population of aging Americans, those who may soon be looking to retire, also report having a net worth of $0 or less (21% of respondents aged 59 and above).
This could have something to do with the state of consumers retirement accounts. According to the study, nearly one-in-five respondents aged 59 and above (19%) dont have a retirement account, the highest percentage of any generation. Another 5% of respondents in this age bracket say they cant afford to contribute to their retirement account at all. Of those within this group who are employed and are saving for retirement, 17% say theyve decreased their contributions to their retirement accounts as a result of inflation.

(4,743 posts)I've been looking for updated distributions of wealth. Bookmarked.
The CBO graph shows assets: total family wealth.
My point is that we have an owner class in this country, and they own the vast bulk of the "mainstream media", using their enormous concentration of wealth to control the public dialog - to their benefit. The billionaire Sinclair, for instance, owns hundreds of tv stations and has expanded into newspapers. Enforcement of antitrust is nonexistent. We recently had a thread where someone posted John Oliver's piece where he shows Sinclair stations reading Sinclair's news script in lockstep, ironically a message about "fake news".
So yes, for years I have expected the "mainstream media" to ignore this.
Tax breaks. Money talks. Loudly.

(13,536 posts)And that irony is stomach turning.
The only hope I have is in people power. The only thing that can upend the stranglehold of money influencing our votes in elections and media, and thereby controlling the electorate and the elected, is a new political model in which citizen lobbyists become the counterforce and solutions to our biggest challenges are incubated in things like citizen assemblies.
The bottom line is that if we are to ever have a hope of seeing things like national health care and basic income, our role as citizen's needs to go way, way beyond voting or running for office.

(4,743 posts)The votable US is roughly thirds.
Red Team and Blue team are about equal and will turn out to vote.
Gray Team, the other third, didn't vote in 2020 for a variety of reasons, despite the fresh horror of the T years. If we take their concerns seriously and listen to them, we can turn the vote. That's a HUGE resource.
We'll need a large, overwhelming majority to beat the cheat. Plus we need to struggle with the election subverters like these:

(13,536 posts). . .is made up of people who are simply immobilized by cynicism and hopelessness -- and it goes back much further than 2020. Some have a "pox on both your houses" attitude. The missing ingredient has been a bold vision of what this nation could become and a sense of hope that we can actually get there.
I think the Harris Walz team is the first in a long time to articulate that much needed bold vision, unapologetically. They have an honest belief in our ability as a people to get there. And I think that belief inspires people to believe in themselves. I think we have a real shot at inspiring the kind of hope that can energize a surprising number who are currently on the "Gray Team."
It does suck that we need margins sufficient to overcome a level of voter suppression that has only grown since the stolen 2000 election.
I dare to hope.
orthoclad
(4,743 posts)that I bookmarked:
https://democraticunderground.com/100219166382
The study gave these numbers:
not being registered to vote (29%)
not being interested in politics (23%)
not liking the candidates (20%)
a feeling their vote wouldn't have made a difference (16%)
being undecided on whom to vote for (10%)
registration can be linked to vote suppression campaigns.
Lack of interest can be linked to struggling to survive.
A lot of people in 2020 didn't like either candidate.
These factors are fixable. There's not much time left.

(1,213 posts)Would make sense with that idiot. TIA comes on suddenly and usually lasts about 5 or so minutes.
Speech may be slurred or garbled, problems understanding what you're saying to them (listing those incidents could take all day).
Another sign of TIA is when someone can't lift both arms and keep them raised because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm. This could easily explain his sippy-cup problem:
In fact, there can be weakness, numbness or paralysis on one side of any part of the body, like, oh, here:
After that video came out, my mother said if his doctors weren't running tests for TIA, then they were incompetent. For all we know, they did run the tests, but the idiot makes sure that We the People never hear the results.
Evidence of TIA could also explain why they ran that MOCA test on someone his age. TIA can lead to cognitive problems, especially if left untreated. Mom told me about this paper discussing that very issue:
