In my 23 years on DU.....

there has never been a time when I've seen this enthusiasm and cohesiveness on this board - and with the Party in general, that I can remember.

#1 Thanks is to our President, Joe Biden, for kicking ass in 2020....and then pass the torch to Kamala for 2024....like a couple of Olympic relay runners. Joe will be remembered as maybe the most important President of the 21st Century.

#2 Thanks to Kamala Harris for accepting the Democratic nomination for POTUS. You Madame, are ready to make history. And also....

#3 Thanks for picking Gov. Walz. He is the VP we need in 2025 and beyond.

But this time, the country is going to be ready for it. He had the advantage of surprise when he refused to concede in 2020, but in 2024, we'll all be expecting it.

I think the Orange Hellbeast is going to be taken aback by the reaction he gets this time. Instead of people gasping and going "What did I just hear?" when he claims he won, he'll get eyerolls and "Sure, Don."

We've all seen this movie before, and we know how it ends. He won't be able to control the narrative this time.

Born with more money than most people earn in our whole lives, he never heard "no", never had to learn the experience of people resisting him or his ideas. And because of his unusual psychiatric problems he didn't have the insight to understand that people were not agreeing with him, not respecting him, but agreeing with and respecting his money.
And this orange cancer metastasized throughput the Republican party because their corpulent moral rot provided the ideal substrate.
The Republicans opened their gates to this cancerous Trojan horse and welcomed him in. Let's hope that the collapse of the Republican party leaves them unable to exert significant control over anything until they affirm that their most supreme principle is a commitment to democracy.

And I do mean that somewhat literally.

The legislature he got passed will benefit America for decades to come. Roads, bridges, schools, wind, solar, charging stations, batteries, computer chips, cheaper meds. None of that is glamorous. It's easy to even overlook the importance of it. But he put his head down and did the hard part of turning all the lights back on.

He and I are about the same age. Where he has found the energy for all of it baffles me. He's incredible to say the least.

birtherism, and racism that incessantly tried to drive us down us during his candidacy and presidency. Obama was a low-key, thoughtful, brilliant speaker, and true progressive, who was the perfect antidote for the George W. Bush years. Kamala Harris is energetic, sharp, and exactly what we all need at this moment in time. Biden helped get us back on track after the disaster of Tump's term, and Harris will take us into the future beyond the nightmare of Trump and his cult of racist, misogynistic, theocratic, fascists.

Joe was pushed to step aside, for a little more than 15 minutes but I was thrilled that Harris is the nominee since I would have voted for her in the primary had she still been on the ballot by the time we got to vote in June.

As for the energy, wow, I don't think we had this for Obama, not this jubilant. There was a lot of uncertainty about the first possible black president, this time, we are not going back AND we're not going to waste a lot of time looking back either.

Glad to see this ticket and the enthusiasm, people are tired of doom and gloom, fear and loathing, they want something more positive. It's hard, if not impossible, to move forward without a positive attitude. These two candidates glow with it and everyone is there to bask in it.

So, let's go win this thing.

Possibility abounds if we elect these two and a complement of like minded Congress members.

Things will get ugly soon enough, probably right after the convention.

We will be dealing with a cornered, rabid creature. Being down in the "fake" polls will turn some of them violent. Trump's increasingly hysterical language will trigger others. There will be blood.

There will be stepped up efforts at voter suppression, voter intimidation, and harassment of poll workers--some of it from Republican officials which been elected to oversee the "fair" election process.

This so far may be the kookiest election in my life time, but it's also like to be the most violent too
