Emhoff could say something like "Harris insults Jews? News to me."

The MAGAs are obviously trying to create division in the party and think that comments about Harris insulting Jews will peal off Jewish voters. And that transparent attempt sounds to me like an insult to the intelligence of Jews, as if they can't see through it.

Yes, he was given the name James Donald Bowman at birth. After his biological father deserted the family when he was very young, his mother remarried and her new husband, Bob Hamel adopted him and they changed his name to James David Hamel, to cut the connection to the deserting ex. Later, his mom and Hamel divorced, JD ended up being raised by his maternal grandparents (the Vances) and he formally changed his name.

Saying Vance isn't his name because it wasn't the name his parents gave him before they changed it and then he changed it is like saying Bill Clinton's name isn't Bill Clinton because he was named William Jefferson Blythe III when he was born, but after his mother remarried, they used his stepfather's last name instead of his father's last name. Clinton officially changed it later in life.

The point isn't to defend Vance it is that making a dumb argument is unnecessary when there are plenty of good arguments to use against Vance.
