Three hours until Harris and Walz are set to appear in Eau Claire and this is the line of cars to get to the rally
1.5 miles away.

One day after Kamala Harris had a packed house in Philadelphia, she is following it up with another packed house in Wisconsin. Folks, a movement is brewing.

Happening now: The crowd continues to grow in Eau Claire, WI where VP Harris / Gov. Walz will speak this afternoon. Ive noticed a ton of Kamala shirts, hats - stuff I had not seen at previous Biden events. Voters told us they are feeling much more energized in the last few weeks

(17,081 posts)Too difficult to secure.
Eau Claire is fairly large town. And Democratic leaning. Were there no indoor facilities available that were large enough?

(97,630 posts)Yesterday I read something about them receiving 46K requests for tickets and had to look for a larger venue. Not sure where l saw it though.

(130,537 posts)The University of Wisconsin has a branch there, but none of its athletic facilities are nearly large enough.

(16,270 posts)There's already been one outdoor rally assassination attempt showing the Secret Service can't protect the candidates adequately enough in that venue.
I'm old enough to remember how the loss of Bobby Kennedy spun our whole society and government in a different direction. We don't need this again.

(8,655 posts)The land surrounding the venue is flat for quite a distance and planted with crops. No high places nearby.
They could have had a bigger crowd, but I expect they are keeping it to 30K for crowd management and VIP safety.

(8,655 posts)It is at an outdoor venue for a music festival. Apparently traffic control sucks. They would have done better to have parking spaces and Eau Claire Metro busing people into the venue.

(97,630 posts)The past couple of days, every time I see something like this, I tear up a bit. They, Biden, Harris, Walz and great American like the ones shown here have given me a renewed hope in America and our Democracy.
They make me proud and they are bringing back the joy.

First time in MY LIFE I've heard someone express happiness stuck in a traffic jam!

(7,790 posts)this is the first I've felt a ray of hope of winning this election for a long time. This is so overwhelming, I don't think Old Don can even cheat his way into an office again. It'd be too obvious to everyone in the country.

(1,996 posts)I quit watching what passes for news these days.
I feel we are in a hopeful mode and wish the orange dictator stays
in long enough to see his utter and total humiliation.
I'm going to see if I can join the party. (I don't mean political party)
I am a life long Democrat and I vote straight ticket.

Personally, given the outdoor venue in Wisconsin, I will be very glad when the day ends and they are safe!

(316 posts)I signed up for the Las Vegas rally this Saturday. The location is TBD. However, with the Vegas heat and crappy traffic, I might have to watch it online instead. I cant imagine standing in 100+ degree for 2-3 hrs!

(24,207 posts)You can feel it. It's what we saw with Obama, people are struck with a sense of energy that they haven't felty in a long time.
sheshe2
(97,630 posts)I felt it with Obama as well and to hell with the polls, I knew he was going to win. I felt in my bones and I truly felt it in my heart. I am finally feeling it again these past two weeks.

(1,406 posts)Crowd size then was 10,000, and the enthusiasm and love was palpable. Obama even shook my hand and I havent washed since.
Still have Obama 2008 and 2012 memorabilia, including his signed books, and my fave a bright blue apron with Fired Up and Ready to Grill on it.
Gotta say, Im getting a good start with HARRIS WALZ 2024!! keepsakes. This time the energy, electricity and hope far surpass anything Ive seen in my lifetime.

(17,802 posts)I was getting trained at the cray plant on one of their fancy new wiz bang speed daemons.
I enjoyed it. Nice place, friendly people, paint dried slowly, but well.
Wicked fast cheese curds and cold lager in cans.
Whats to hate?

(15,556 posts)Remember him saying "there is no way I lost, Biden didn't have as many people at his rallies as I did."
Of course that is because we are not in a cult but, he can't say that this year and it might be more difficult for him to convince his minions he won if our crowds are bigger than his.
(Ok, yes, I hate myself. Just listen to me. I'm willing to pay his petty stupid games. Actually, I'm willing to play the Lincoln Project games. When he goes crazy, he sounds crazy and he's going to have to spend more time on the road at rallies which means more opportunity to get the media talking about what he's saying. I'm so scared I'm willing to try anything).
