Do yall remember a long long time ago when he went to the hospital in the middle of the night and they never said why he went? They just evaded questions with BS answers until the lazy media got tired of asking.
I believe that they were evaluating him following some sort of episode or episodes. Im certain he was given neurological tests and hes been lying about their results since. In fact, his usual mechanism of projection was implemented against President Biden, by stating that he, the President, was infirm and senile because
thats what he, Trump, nearly always does.
We are witnessing his rapid decline in real time. There is little question that its accelerating and is exacerbated by stressors. The Biden turnover is possibly the most recent: its the political equivalent of being left at the altar. Being shot at is another as is having to sit through a multi-week jury trial and then to be found guilty on top of that.
To be truthful, all of these would severely affect, at least emotionally, a perfectly normal, reasonably well-adjusted individual.
Well, he certainly aint that. Add to the above the essential dissolution of his marriage, the fear concerning pending litigation, and the stresses of running a criminal enterprise and this is a recipe for accelerating his dementia.
Okay, you dont like diagnosing over the teevee? Please allow me to ask: honestly, most here are of sound mind. How many could deal with this concatenation of nightmares and feel stable? Right. So a malignant deteriorating narcissist whos showing real signs of confusion is gonna see their personas health plummet.
As a final point, his dress and demeanor is off and has been for years. This is not the Trump I recall from Atlantic City, where he was a shitbag, but analytical and sharp in his crumby way. No
this guy is a shell of his former self, as they say. Thats why hes being hidden presently while they figure out what to do with him. They even sent that POS Nazified prick Stephen Miller out on MSNBC,
they dont know what else to do to stay relevant.

That was avoided since Grant won in a landslide that year.

(22,951 posts)Organized electors might be able to deal with it when they cast their votes as one option. If not, I suspect it would play out as normal with a presidential nomination and approval in the House and Senate.
Because this hypothtical all happens before an election, I guess it might go to the Senate in some electoral college hijinks with each state getting one vote, but that seems cumbersome and unnecessary.

But I remember her explosive temper! I imagine that is going on with tRUMP. He is probably hell to be around. And PLEASE DONT punish yourself for whatever feelings you had, deep down, that you had to try to keep to yourself while it was all unraveling. They come. Theyre there. We ALL have em. And its a desperately heavy lift.

Nothing is going to be real to him until a door shuts behind him that he can't open if he wants to, whether it's guarded house arrest or prison. Until that control is taken away from him and he realizes his lawyers haven't fixed things for him, it's not going to hit him.

"Cognitive dissonance is a mental discomfort that arises when a person holds two or more contradictory beliefs, values, or attitudes. This can lead to a state of tension and anxiety, as the person tries to reconcile their conflicting thoughts."
Trump is an extreme case, given his personality.
He truly believes his destiny is to be President, and then be free to morph US Democracy into a North Korean or Russian strong man dictatorship.
And yet . . . the daily evidence he tries to ignore says it isn't going to happen.

Syphilis has been 100% curable for basically Trump's entire lifetime. The idea that someone with plenty of money and access to good health care could contract the disease and go undetected and untreated for decades is laughable.
Imo, the only reason this silly notion has hung on like it has is because advanced cases of a disease that is easily curable with cheap drugs are so rare in industrialized nations like the U.S. that most of us will never encounter an example of it irl.

(15,424 posts)For sure. I mean no doubt. When my first wife left me, and then I got demoted at work because I wasn't functioning well, developed some financial problems, and then just as things were getting to be OK, I fell on ice and my right quadraceps completely separated from my kneecap. So surgery, painful physical therapy and about a 2.5 year recovery.
I guess I grew up, you know. Became more spiritual, more thoughtful, more prayerful. Oh, I know lots of people on here don't subscibe to that. That's fine. No worries. But I do. I needed to forgive, release and get back in touch with inner peace and joy.
Bottom line, I'd say I'm pretty much recovered, but definitely not the same person I was going into it, you know?
I like to think I am better. Lots of meditation, and so on.
Like you, though - I can remember that post you made about giving a fuck a couple weeks ago. I don't think I replied, but I was thinking about you, because my wife and I had a horrible time as the media was ganging up on Biden. It was an awful few weeks. Well, you know.
Now, we have this joy, which is great, and I'm confident Kamala and Coach Walz will win decisively and gain control of both houses of Congress. Hopefully.
What bothers me, I think, is that I know I should be balanced no matter what is happening around me, but that is hard, you know? It really is.
So Trump has to be....well, I would hate to be him. While I believe he should be in prison along with so many of his follwers, I don't wish anything more than that on him. My hope is that Biden saved the republic with his noble, selfless gesture and the Democrats are now galvanized with hope and joy. Might be a lot like FDR getting us out of the depression, you know - that was an existential crisis too, along with WWII - my dad fought in the Pacific during that one.
