A number of commenters here have reacted with alarm to JD Vance's silly airport stunt, going so far as suggesting that VP Harris should get a restraining order or that her security detail needs to be called on the carpet for letting Vance walk towards her plane. But that is exactly the wrong reaction. The right reaction is to laugh at his stunt, call it silly, belittle him for it. Reacting as if he is a real threat only gives him, and the Trumpists what they want -- a sense that we are afraid of them. The reason that calling the "weird" is so effective is that it strips them of their power. It is the classic way of disarming a bully.
So let's chill out on treating Trump and Vance as actual physical threats to our ticket and laugh at their stunts and name-calling.

Harris and Walz are not scared.

(9,689 posts)JD Vance is a jock-sniffer.
He's not great leader. He flew a desk in the military. He's accomplished nothing.
Huis ONLY glory is reflected glory. This airplane stunt was the equivalent of a dude in a baseball hat posing at home plate and he wants you to believe he's in the Big Leagues. Well, he's not. And we all know it.... except for some breathless "journalists."

(131,591 posts)at the debate with Hillary - follow her around, trying to look menacing. Vance, in his lame incel way, is trying to do something like that, a kind of transcontinental stalking: "See, I'm here, right behind you, staking out my territory." But it's not menacing at all (she has plenty of protection; he was never going to get near her or AF2, not that he would have done anything except maybe piss on the landing gear), it's just juvenile and stupid. Keep laughing at him; he'll look more and more ridiculous at each stop on his stalking tour.

(1,406 posts)Trump has been absent. Vance gets tiny crowds. This is a hilarious and sad attempt to get on TV.

Even if he were to roll up in Madame Presidents face suddenly, hed be lucky to get off with being wrestled to the ground. He may get more coverage of that event than he wants. Lunging at a woman like a billy goat wouldnt look weird, would it, Shadypants?

He is displaying intimidating comments and behavior.
If a risk assessment was done, Vance raises red flags of concern.

(35,049 posts)They're pulling out all of the old poo that they've been flinging for decade. The creepy stalking of the female candidate. The swiftboating. The birtherism. The selective anti-Semitism. The cries of "Socialism!!!! Errmehggghhrrrddd!!! Socialism!!!!" They're even dragging out more Hunter Biden allegations, even though he's irrelevant at this point. They're hoping that if they fling it again, it will stick this time. It would be funny, if it wasn't so gross and pathetic.
