Jansing suggested that Trump could go to Montana and there would be 100,000 showing up at his rally.

(39,127 posts)Gallatin County is 127K. A significant portion would rather line up to piss on Trump's grave.

(20,982 posts)They would have to come in from Idaho, and outer areas. Montana is a big state populated like Wyoming. Spread out.
Montana has Helena, Billings, Missoula, nd Bozeman being larger cities that are spread out. They don't call it the Big Sky state for nothing.

(1,406 posts)This is like when the press was lost and bewildered in 2008. They did not want to report that the Democratic candidate was running away with the election. They needed a "horserace" for ratings. It got so bad some Republicans couldn't tell if the "Raining McCain" song was satirical or supportive.

(15,597 posts)I believe Montana currently has a population of around 1.5 million.
That's the about the population of the average suburban or "bedroom community" city in California. But Montana is around 145k square miles instead of maybe 40 square miles.
I doubt he could get 100k if he held a rally in Connecticut where the majority of people won't have to be driving a couple hundred miles just to get to the venue.
Someone needs to brush up on her Geography.

(8,240 posts)Steele is rightly exasperated by how easily the media lets themselves get played.
Maga pee paw wants a photo op. He wants the visual of a packed rally. The emperor has no clothes...

(1,664 posts)Chris Jansing was asking why Trump would be campaigning in Montana instead of a swing state, and she wondered if it had to do with the fact that Trump is obsessed with rally numbers and ratings. I forget Steele's answer, but I took it more as incredulity at Trump than Jansing.
Seems to me to be much ado about nothing. Criticizing journalists is absolutely fair game. The very frequent criticism of cable talk news show hosts seems to me to be mostly smoke and little fire.
