Debby's Remnants Bring Flooding Rain, Gusty Wind, Tornado Threats To East
Debby's remnants are tracking northward across the East, with its threats of flooding rain, gusty winds and isolated tornadoes continuing from the Carolinas to New England through early Saturday.
Current status: Bands of soaking rain in association with Debby's moisture and a pair of fronts extend from the coastal Carolinas to New England. Multiple flash flood warnings remain in effect, as shown by the dark green polygons in the map below.
Water rescues due to flooding have been reported this morning in coastal South Carolina and near Greenwood, Virginia.
Debby's outer rainbands are still spawning a few tornadoes, as well. A tornado watch is in effect until 2 p.m. EDT from northern Virginia northward to portions of eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and southeast New York. That includes the Washington, D.C. to Baltimore to Philadelphia corridor.

Here in Berkeley County SC. No one predicted it as late as the 11:00 pm news last night. Now they’re saying it’s the remnants of Debby. We’re lucky that only our backyard and shed are flooded. It hasn’t reached the house and is slowly receding (we live on a small lake). So our little town has received 20” of rain from Debby,
