At some point soon, despite being surrounded by sycophants and compliant media, the orange menace is going to realize that things aren't going his way.
Is he so sure that his scheme of having local election officials in certain districts refuse to certify results is a fool-proof road to victory?
If not, what do you anticipate will be on his list of things to try?
Because he's nothing if not predictable.
How low do you think he will go, though?

(56,198 posts)This time he will amp up the violence aspect, talk about civil war, bloodbath, etc.
All without evidence, not that that will stop the media from amplifying his fantasies.
The real question is how many supporters will respond and help him coup. At the moment I'd say not nearly enough for a successful coup, but by November, who knows.

(38,696 posts)He held a "press conference" yesterday and got himself an hour of free air time from Cable News.
That looks like campaigning to me.

But then trump makes a lot of stupid choices.

(38,696 posts)That's why he agreed to the rally, which was for the GOP asshat running against Tester.

(450 posts)I think something violent and deadly will happen before the debate and his sentencing. He knows he can't debate Harris and he knows he can't be sentenced to prison before he can steal the election. I still think he staged his "assassination attempt" and he is capable of far more devious and evil deeds.

ShazzieB
(22,578 posts)I never thought he staged it.
Too complicated, too many moving parts. And why would the shoorter have agreed to it, knowing how likely it was that he would be killed. It just doesn't add up.

(2,493 posts)More to the point, they didn't give a shit if innocents died.
Like he cares about that?
What about the people on J6? He only expressed remorse for one and that one was to his political advantage.

(5,719 posts)to think he can win the debate against her. You know, just how he thought the so-called presser would go well for him, and the interview with black journalists.

(43,144 posts)Make it clear his advisers have given up on him. Hes out there totally alone now in making decisions.
They did have him hauled off the stage at the NABJ. That was the beginning of the end.

(19,502 posts)Imagine a Maga riot at the courthouse when sentencing occurs in the hush-money trial in Sept.
But that's too long to wait. He want's to stop the Harris-Walz momentum now.
Riots in Chicago? Along the border?

(1,977 posts)Prior to that:
He will be decimated by Harris at the debate.
Chutkin will have set a mini trial date.
Some rich backers will be pulling away.
Some people will not take his calls.
He will have fired his top campaign people and have only sycophants advising him.
Polls are getting worse and worse.
Thats a start. Will they try to cancel/delay the election. My god its gonna be a shit show.

(32,116 posts)Republicans States can spoil election results.
Vote-wise, Trump loses by 2X the margin as last time. With Kamala and Tim, maybe 3X. That's a 20MM delta for the good guys.
But the election is going to be fought in the 50 States, this time. Where do I contribute to legal org working to protect our vote?

(2,357 posts)Democracy Docket seems like a Clarion voice on this exact topic:
https://www.democracydocket.com/opinion/the-fight-to-certify-elections-has-already-begun/
Yet Marc Elias is just one person with a small-but-effectove team. I saw within the last day or two a broader bipartisan effort to get lawyers to sign up to help with legal action when the times come, but I don't have the link handy.

(43,144 posts)Not a plan, because it is very situational. Sixty-one lawsuits and he won one. If that was a plan, it would have worked last time.
This is the advantage of having Harris, a prosecutor , leading the campaign.
Besides that we need the full phalanx of lawyers and observers at the ready.
