Midwest, but I knew that they had corn fields for miles. I just assumed that up there they ate tamales that way. I had heard that the food there wasn't very good and I thought that I understood why.

the waitress asked the customer if he wanted salsa and when told yes asked "Would that be mild, extra mild, or Minnesotan?"

I have to confess that I fit the stereotype & am not real fond of spicey food, but I know many people (my late mother included) who are.

Can't eat hot peppers either, though I have no Scandinavian ancestry. It's probably the Irish.

But I grew up in Southern California.
The more spice, the better! I want to see fire coming out of my mouth when I eat Mexican food.

My stomach, on the other hand . . . hates me.

Never give a sword to a man who can't dance.

Can't tolerate spicy food myself, so I simpathize, and I don't mind a little ribbing about it if it's all in fun.

eat some of that blob of sour cream that's on the plate, that's what it's for.

Capsaicin binds to fat and when it's in the bound state, it's a lot tamer.

Idk if it's the heat but I haven't in the past liked the taste of jalapeños.

I can also take a little sprinkle of cayenne.

Hubs and I were in the Cayman Islands a few years back, and got jerk chicken sandwiches from a food truck. The owner asked us if we wanted our chicken mild or spicy. I responded "white person spicy." She hesitated, then burst out laughing. Ever since then, we refer to mild anything as "white person spicy."

I still like spicy food, but as I'm getting older, I'm finding that it doesn't like me so much.
