Mine is bigger than yours.
It seems like penis envy. Why cant media ignore that trump lie? Its such a stupid frame of reference.

(3,362 posts)People want to be at a Harris Walz event and the size is a reflection of the demand. Trumps act is old and tried. We are not going back.

(97 posts)Politics. Not please be nice. Democrats have tried that for too long. It's time we do what really bothers him. He's bullied us enough. Give him a taste of his own medicine.

Sympthsical
(11,072 posts)His ego and narcissism are everything. Anything that pricks it drives him into making crazier and more outlandish claims. It unhinges him.
So highlighting Harris crowds vs. Trump crowds drives him batty and leads to him looking more unhinged than his usual base level of batshit.
It's useful for us to get him riled up. Getting him frenzied then letting him talk in public is a useful tool. Just in general, it's a good look for us. But then comparing it to a controlled, competent, and happy Harris/Walz campaign, and it's drawing a very deep contrast in appealing to voters.

(32,615 posts)it keeps the narrative with us. Who controls the narrative is important.
Now, I wish I could get people to stop calling a fence a wall.
Metaphorical
(2,655 posts)Seriously, there's nothing that says successful campaign like shots of large auditorium filled with people, and nothing that says flailing campaign like half-empty venues. The corporate media is increasingly facing online competition with bloggers putting up youtube videos and getting more eyeballs than your 24/7 "news" channels, and they can only not show these things for so long before they get scooped.
Moreover, people ARE influenced by these things. A campaign that seemingly has a lot of energy and excitement gets people out to vote, but one that seems boring and dull makes people less likely to vote. They want to belong to the winning team.

(7,160 posts)and it gets under his skin, clearly. Big time. Not like it's some kind of major emphasis of the campaign, like it is for him.
If it distracts him and makes him waste time addressing such a trivial and insignificant detail, then why not? Though it is worth mentioning that the Harris/Walz rally in Glendale, Arizona was perhaps the largest such political gathering in state history.

(19,209 posts)... would draw larger crowds that he does.
The fact that it is demonstrably easy to prove - makes it all that much better. A wall of full seats compared to a wall of empty seats do not lie. It is a visual reminder how much of a prevaricating fucking liar this trDUMP clown is.
We would be foolish not to drive this point home each and every chance we get.

(2,774 posts)I mentioned in another post that in 2004 in Reno, Bush and Cheney, especially the latter, drew small crowds. It had no bearing on the election results.
displacedvermoter
(4,892 posts)and we are talking more about setting a tone that will lead to positive election results. Watch Trump go crazy, for example, if crowd size gets brought up during the ABC debate. It could completely go haywire for him and make him look demented on live TV.
Trump has made the last three campaigns about optics, and the discussions about crowd size, are key to that whole optics vibe.
Zoomie1986
(1,213 posts)What wins campaigns.
Democrats know, better than anyone, that crowd size doesn't win elections. After all, we saw in primaries during 2016 and 2020 that crowd sizes didn't win a nomination. Did you forget how Hillary and Biden both beat Sanders, and how it made his looniest fans lose their minds over it, into making ridiculous accusations of cheating their dear leader out of the nomination? How could HRC and Biden beat their hero when they didn't get rallies to turn out for him?
Been there, done that.
Pointing out how well-attended the Harris rallies are is rubbing the other guy's nose in it, because we know that he is the one who thinks that crowd size correlates to chances of winning. It's to goad him into making mistakes and saying stupid things.
And since you don't seem to have noticed, it's working.
Do keep up.

(64,524 posts)One of democrats' problems over the years is that we've been ignoring shit like this. But if something bothers trump and gets him off on one of his silly tangents where he exposes his narcissism and basic childishness to the public it should be fair game. You seldom succeed agains bullies by "playing nice."
trump's whole bullshit game is "neener neener, I'm better than you are" which isn't based in any reality. Mocking helps deflate the ego.
