(64,909 posts)In 2012, a Porsche dealership owned by Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bernie Moreno recruited a general manager from Virginia with decades of experience selling the German sports cars. A year and a half later they cut ties with the salesman, and pretty soon he was in court claiming Moreno hadnt delivered on the pay package that lured him to Ohio.
From hiring to firing
Before agreeing to take the job, Michael Falcones complaint states, he wanted assurance that the move to Ohio would make financial sense. The offer on the table was $80,000 in base pay as well as a commission of 5% of the dealerships total variable gross profit. In a follow-up email exchange, Falcone pressed Moreno on the terms and according to court documents, Moreno wrote back, Just so we are clear, you will get paid on ALL VARIABLE gross profit.
Falcone signed the offer sheet the following day and began work shorty after. His complaint describes working for several months before asking for documentation so he could double check his commission. Despite multiple requests, Falcone argued, the company didnt provide the kind of sales information that would help him calculate what he was owed.
Whats more, Falcone contends that after he began asking about his compensation, his superiors retaliated against him and embarked on a concerted campaign to force Mr. Falcones resignation.

(441 posts)He already had a judge call him out for destruction of evidence in a previous wage theft complaint for not paying overtime that was due. He has a pattern of cheating his employees. I wish that previous case had been referred for criminal action, the wage theft complaint was a civil suit, but the destruction of evidence could have put the prick in jail.
edited to add: I see they mention that at the end of your linked article. mea culpa for not reading to the end before commenting.

All those years of McConnellk and Boehner wasted.

I did manage to rescuer my new wife from Ohio. That raised the average IQ in Michigan and lowered it in Ohio.

(7,404 posts)I'm a good bit out from Cincinnati but still considered metro Cincinnati. Columbus and Dayton airports are closer than Cincinnati - which is actually in Kentucky. The below only applies to the 10 mile radius around my home. I don't get out past that very much these days.
1. Sherrod ads - for and against are running pretty frequently and often back to back.
2. I saw one Moreno ad quite some time ago and nothing since. I assume that's a cost saving decision this far out.
3. I've started seeing Harris/Walz ads in favor. None against. I'm sure that will change if she gets any traction here.
4. Trump flags, yard signs and car stickers are rare but I've not seen any Harris logos past the ones our little group has provided. To be honest, I think people are just afraid to advertise their choice for fear of vandalism or other violence.

A special election in August 2023 was for a referendum to make it harder for voter-led initiatives to amend the Ohio State Constitution to be proposed and approved. It failed and it's failure of this issue cleared the way cleared the way for Issue 1 & 2 to be passed. It had an unusually high voter turnout. LaRose tried his best to get Issues 1 & 2 off the ballot and wasted taxpayers money to do it. Ohio voters thwarted DeWine and LaRose in the last 3 elections
Issue 1 was reproductive health and Issue 2 legalized marijuana.
