There is a solution to broadcasting Trump's lies without fact-checking.

Because he lies so rapidly and so much that it is not possible to correct him in a live news conference. He used the same tactic in his debate with Joe Biden.

The solution is to not broadcast him "live". Put him on a 5-minute delay so that fact-checkers can correct his lies and inform the people in a more fair way. If he refuses to that format, do not cover him at all.

It is a disservice to all of America to permit the lies to pass without comment or correction.

12th LIE!!!!

Splashed across the screen
And, for radio listeners, an American Idol type buzzer over all of them.

The problem is, mass media sees their mission to provide information, but doesn't have the stomach for deciding what is information and what is disinformation.
It's easier to truth & lies the same way.

Speaking as a former print journalist, I am shocked and disgusted by the conduct of far too many "legitimate" media outlets. The TV networks have NO obligation to broadcast anybody's press conference. That's a judgment call, and constantly giving Trump a national platform is horrific judgment. If he wants to spread his lies and his inane stories, make him try to buy the TV time. And then tell him you won't air his ads because they're lies. That's how any decent member of the broadcast or print media should be treating Trump. It's that simple. Just ask Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC. He gets it.

Where are the Edward R. Murrows and the Walter Cronkites?

Every decent journalist and media outlet has an obligation to use its power, whether a small-town weekly paper or a major TV network, to serve the American people fairly and objectively. Covering Trump as if he were just another presidential candidate instead of a felon, thug, sexual pervert, pathological liar, sociopath, racist, religious hypocrite and malignant narcissist is an egregious rejection of journalistic integrity.

They have no obligation to give a criminal and a liar equal time.

The "both sides" argument is a bunch of malarkey.

The guy has been getting away with spewing lies for over 5 decades. It is sickening how many in the media are lapping it up yet again, with few exceptions. Joy Reed comes to mind as one of those exceptions.

Donald Trump is not capable of telling the truth. Stop giving him a platform to continue his lies.

should be de rigueur, then only broadcast true statements, with alternate programming at the ready to fill the time.
