Is canvassing on a Sunday evening rude?

I've been canvassing with my 3-year-old in the Philly suburbs the last few weekends. He really wants to do some today but his nap ran over. I'm thinking this might be a good time to catch people home, but is it rude to knock on doors on a Sunday evening? How late is too late?

If you’re going to canvass, do it. But I wouldn’t worry much about the time as long as it isn’t obscenely early or late. But also consider how much people in your neighborhood might react… you would probably know that better than anybody else.

7. My ex did canvassing for the Kerry campaign.

He would go out on early/midafternoons on Saturdays and managed to talk to a lot of people who were out walking around or doing yardwork.

I’d leave Sundays alone and go out on early evening weekdays (maybe until 8?) and on Saturdays.

I know I, personally, would not take kindly to a canvasser at my door on a Sunday evening.

EDIT: Early evenings might not be best either, due to dinnertime — maybe just do an hour or so around 7, and do the bulk on Saturdays?

It's hard to fit in volunteer time in people's lives. I hope people don't get angry with you for offering your time

answer the door for anyone I don't know or I didn't invite. If you want to talk to me in public fine. If I'm in the mood.
