Mottos of two Paris Olympiads. Understand the city also hosted Olympic events in 1900, part of an International Exposition.

Successfully hosting such a spectacle is difficult any time, frustrating, if not maddening, during an age of terror. Like a Gold Medal winner, France made it look easy.
