It is hard to quantify how much damage Trump did to himself with this post
There were large groups of holdouts in the middle and right who disagreed with us who've recognized he's been insane all this time
As of today, they know.

To my point. Norm actually thought this was a choice of some kind by Trump:

And remember the golden rule for Trump, whenever he accuses someone of something, it's because he's already doing it or will be doing it very soon.

(1 post)While I agree with Keith on the potential consequences that should happen after this action taken by Trump, it will be forgotten about in a day when he says something else nutty. We just need to vote.

Hmmm, I can only come up with one name, and it's not Kamala.

(2,937 posts)Books are written about it. Authoritarianism. They need someone to submit to, and when that person hates the same people they hate, they glom onto him. It's a very deep-seated need. If trump died (please, god), they would simply shift to another authoritarian figure.
Zoomie1986
(1,213 posts)That explains everything about him. When narcissists feel challenged or threatened, they'll say anything to win, to make themselves feel superior to you, and truth doesn't matter. He doesn't care about truth in the least. Only about trouncing the challenger or threat.
I'm glad you never had to deal with such a person, or didn't realize you were, but that doesn't change the fact that everything about him makes sense only through the lens of malignant narcissism. That explains it all--even that thing on top of his head.

(2,010 posts)They will likely need deprogramming.
And yet I see many republicons connected to cult 45 magats refuse to support him.
His cult is a smaller percentage of that party than it was. It's still a lot of crazy brainwashed people, to be sure, but I know a number of republicons who will not vote for tfg. Some are voting for Kennedy, some for Harris, some may write in a name or not vote.
He's displayed crazy criminal behavior and rants throughout his private and political life. So many times I've read a headline on DU about him loosing it, melting down, etc.. Each episode mentioned helped to erode a small part of his support out there, from those who had accepted his behavior while not enthusiastically supporting it. From immigration to workers to family and reproductive rights challenged he lost some support; from criminal activity to prosecution and conviction he lost some support; from reality TV star to political failure he lost some support; from his theft of documents to his attempts to stay in power, foment insurrection with an authoritarian agenda he lost some support, and so on. Small numbers have fallen away with each action or rant. The ones that still proudly support him are among the most deranged and delusional themselves.
I see this rant as a bit more deranged and unhinged than anything else he's posted, which is saying a lot...not that I read many of his posts, just what I read from here. This is a toddler temper tantrum rant, which will help to erode his support further. Not fair!?! Not prepared or able to wage his campaign against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz!?! Poor tfg! Next he'll churn up the hate.
As you point out, his cult will stand by him. Some on the fringes will not. More will slip away.
Some republicon donors will probably want tfg to step down and try to exert influence, but there are too many crazies in their party to manage any significant agreement. We still need to work hard and GOTV. They can't challenge a landslide victory. Ok, they can and will challenge any victory we have, where they've set up circumstances to be able to change or challenge the results.
GOTV for a blue wave, tsunami, landslide!

(513 posts)Trump that our country has to fear. The project 2025 group and others have been planning for over 20 years to take over control of the gov. They have screwed with who can vote ,they have stacked the federal courts with people who are now making unhinged moves and Mitch along with Trump got the SCOTUS where they want it . WE have Rubio,Johnson, Jordan ,Cruz, and a host of others that would carry out their plans if they could get them into the white house. These people just don't have the lure like Trump to our crazy minority of people who vote without knowing the real reason who or what people should vote for. I am sure that removing Trump will not stop the battle we are fighting for the future of our democracy .

(3,914 posts)Just looking right now I see the story of Trump's lies about Harris' crowds on CNN, MSNBC, AP, Seattle Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Forbes, Hindustan Times, etc.
Are you going to see this on Fox or OAN? No - of course not. But there isn't some conspiracy across the news media to keep this a secret.

(9,457 posts)It's Trump lying all the time with impunity, making easily disprovable claims, often about trivial matters.
The important difference, in my mind, is people are exhausted by Trump and see Kamala as an off ramp to get away from his lies and fear-mongering. The fact that Trump spouts so many obvious lies makes it really easy to grab one and get off the train.
whopis01
(3,914 posts)that he can't tell the difference between 2000 supporters and 1000 supporters who yell twice as loud.
He is pushing so hard on things that get his die-hard supporters even more excited and worked up. I am sure it is because he loves the feedback and affirmation they give him. But it does nothing to increase his votes.

(2,594 posts)He is clinging desperately to his old trick of projection, flinging accusations at Kamala of things he himself is guilty of:
"Kamala CHEATED!"
"This is the way Democrats win elections, by CHEATING!"
"She had nobody waiting and the 'crowd' looked like 10,000 people!"
Plus the recent news from the Trump campaign that Iran hacked their campaign. More projection, based on Russia hacking Hillary's emails and the DNC. Plus so unoriginal. All they can come up with to accuse Harris of is the dirty tricks that they themselves pulled in 2016.
Morans.

(14,680 posts)I recall learning around 7 years old never to lie when there was clear evidence that you were lying. Not because it was wrong, but because you were going to get caught.
Trump hasnt learned that yet, or, just as likely, he doesnt even realize when he is lying because no one close to him will ever call him out.

He said that to a national audience at a time when a large fraction of the country had nothing to do but follow news.
He's been a senile lunatic since day one. People don't care because they expect it from him, and they've been conditioned to believe it doesn't matter.
