Of course when it came to the hacked DNC material in 2016, the media couldn't get enough of it and essentially followed Trump's direction by publishing as much as they could.
Add this to the list of double standards.....
Hacked Trump Campaign Material On JD Vance Leaked to Three Major News Outlets, All of Which Chose Not To Print It
Three major news outlets, The Washington Post, Politico, and The New York Times, all received hacked material from former President Donald Trumps campaign and so far have not published any of the material or offered specifics about exactly what they received.
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that the outlets have only written about a potential hack of the campaign and described what they had in broad terms. Politico published a story on the material on Saturday, noting that someone who self-identified as Robert started sending emails leaking campaign documents on July 22nd and has since sent a 271-page vetting document about Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) and a shorter vetting report on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).
The Times and the Post received similar emails and all three outlets have since confirmed the materials to be legitimate. Like many such vetting documents, they contained past statements with the potential to be embarrassing or damaging, such as Mr. Vances remarks casting aspersions on Mr. Trump, wrote the Times of the report they received.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung released a statement over the weekend calling on the media not to publish materials from the hack, which he blamed on Iran, and declared that any media or news outlet reprinting documents or internal communications are doing the bidding of Americas enemies.

Think. Again.

Just saying. Not encouraging.
Its still wrong. Hypocritical as fuck, but wrong.

(15,621 posts)That he leaked the materials as cover, and they don't want to be a party to that process?
Because I think Trump should be forced to carry him to term.

(13,156 posts)Today the Washington Post would refuse to publish or even allow the investigation by Woodward and Bernstein about Watergate because they would protect a Republican president. Its sad to see a once-great paper reduced to a forum for right-wing opinion writers and journalists either too afraid of Trump or not allowed to report the truth about him.

(1,163 posts)Perhaps if Democrats were more gullible consumers, the targeted demographics of advertisers would cause media companies to tilt their coverage. As it is, if MSNBC is any indication, Democrats and fellow travelers seem mostly into cruises on floating tenements, expensive electric SUVs and pharmaceutical treatments with horrible side-effects for various ailments. Oh yeah, almost forgot, and "natural" memory-enhancement supplements. Gotta get me some of them.

Somehow - - don't think I'll have a real big problem with this.
And, sometimes - I do tend to wonder a little bit about some of the voices ...
(Incidentally - it's already reported that investigations are ongoing on hacks of both campaigns ... Just food for thought.)
