She is so damned in the can for Trump (and even if she were not--so damned snide, rude, snarky, and nasty) that MSNBC should dump her butt on Trump's campaign plane and let her soak up all the Jeffrey Epstein "VIBES."

A whole lot of attempts at censorship going on. People don't like what is said on cable news by certain pundits and some members here want other members to stay quiet or only post what they approve of.
People don't need to watch cable news if what is said upsets them. People are free to not read what I post or they can also place me on ignore. I don't really care.
You are allowing me to control your emotions even though that is not my intent when it should be you in control.

(3,943 posts)Politics is not about personal choice, as though it were shopping. One person changing the channel, one person checking their voter registration, one person suing a corporation, one person figuring out how to get healthcare - those are not solutions to the social problems involved, and politics is about social issues. People are objecting to Tur's political views ad the potential influence she has. Turning her show off doesn't change that. Critiquing her might have an effect.
Politics is not a matter of avoiding or ignoring the things we don't like. To the contrary, polities means facing and dealing with social problems. Mass media propaganda controlled by a handful of corporations, is a social problem, not a personal choice issue.
senseandsensibility
(24,974 posts)What kind of politics would we have if we ignored everything we were powerless to change? I would argue none at all. It's similar to some posters yelling that cheato is not required BY LAW to answer certain questions, so the questions shouldn't be asked. Sounds to me like a way to stifle dissent.

(10,909 posts)I concur with everything Adam Kinzinger said and felt.
I can back up much of what I'm going to saw with links but I have literally hundreds now. I'm still researching
I'm going to focus on two aspects (I use bold to help distinguish aspects of one vs the other).
In 2002, Walz' troubled hearing was assessed to see if he could continue serving. Eventually, they went along with allowing him to continue to serve but there had to be some reservations because he had hearing problems that left his service in doubt from all the years of heavy artillery. That is a documented fact as are most of what is below
In 2003-4, Walz unit served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Italy, in part securing air bases armed with nuclear weapons from terrorists. (And they say he didn't carry weapons of war to do that so sling shots and pocket knives ...? unbelievable ..) Walz also trained soldiers heading to combat in the use of weapons including heavy artillery (a specialty of his) .
During his service in Italy 2003-4, Walz became close with some of the others in his unit. He spoke of his desire to serve in Congress where he believed he could do more good.
Fox News reported Nat'l Guard said they got Walz request for retirement "5-7 months" before he retired which would be between Oct 16th-Dec 16th, 2004. (he retired May 16, 2005)
@votevets reported they confirmed Walz filed for retirement months before he retired.
In Jan, 2005, Walz attended the Wellstone Camp to learn about running for Congress.
In Feb, 2005, Walz filed paperwork to run for Congress
In Mar 2005, the Nat'l Guard advised they might be calling units up but they were uncertain about which units.
In Apr 2005, Walz talked with his superior who wanted him to stick around. Walz told him they hadn't settled on whether he would be a candidate for congress yet. If he wasn't, he'd try to stick around. His superior doesn't tell it quite that way.
That's when they gave Walz the promotion 4/1/2005. That opened the door for them to whine that he had agreed to longer service when he'd been thinking about running for Congress for months if not longer and applied to run in Feb 2005 which he told them. That is probably why Walz went around that guy - up the chain of command.
Walz was looking into it and found out he could not run for Congress as a partisan and remain in the military. He also had concerns about the Hatch Act - similar reasoning. Further, he needed a million dollars for his campaign and his school teacher bank account couldn't provide that. He had to raise it. If he deployed, he'd have to wait 2 more years and wouldn't begin service in Congress until Jan 2009 ... four years from that time. So that had to factor into his thinking.
Walz had his hearing checked. It was further damaged beyond 2002 from his service. Shortly after his retirement, Walz underwent stapedectomy surgery, a procedure in which damaged bones inside the ear are replaced with a prosthesis. His hearing was damaged after 24 years of heavy artillery and noise from his occupation. You cannot fly for 2-3 months after the surgery. It is not a 100% cure - it helps. His reenlistment eligibility was RE-3 - he couldn't come back without a waiver. So the swiftboaters wanted him to blow out the rest of his hearing by deploying him to combat when combat is not safe with compromised hearing?? That is where I really lost it. He never got his hearing all back. He still complains of tinnitus. I have no problem with the guy saying "You got to damage my ears for 24 years. Sorry, you can't have what is left of my damaged hearing - damaged while doing my duty"
So they swiftboat a guy injured in the line of duty who should never have returned to what he'd done with artillery or combat. For me, it doesn't get much lower than that.
Boston Herald spoke with the Nat'l Guard
https://www.bostonherald.com/2024/08/12/minnesota-national-guard-officials-weigh-in-on-walz-service/
There was nothing concrete about his unit being deployed when he retired according to the Nat'l Guard. First concrete news of that came 2 months later (7-9 months after FOX News said he filed papers to retire)
In my opinion, the people that smeared him are despicable.
