Donald Trump Announces He Will Close Down The Department Of Education

Donald Trump has announced his support for abolishing the Department of Education if he were to become President of the United States again. In a Twitter space with Elon Musk, Trump stated that he needed someone like Elon to help him close down the Department of Education.

Abolishing the Department of Education has been a goal of Republicans for years, and is a key tenant of Project 2025, an agenda that Trump is actively trying to run away from. By abolishing the Department of Education, Trump would seek to have each state implement education standards for their respective students, which critics have said would cause inequitable outcomes across the country.

The language used by Republicans when talking about abolishing the Department of Education mimics the language they used in support of overturning Roe v. Wade. There, the Republican Party said that it should be up to each individual state how it deals with abortion rights. Now, they are repeating this same line when it comes to education standards.

Always tricky due to the General Welfare clause, but it's a facade with these people. They want to go "states rights" until a State enacts tougher environmental laws, then they would sue. In the end it's better for our nation overall to have a well educated populace that have access to equitable resources. That IS General Welfare. Fuck these people.

SLAVERY. The electoral college was designed by slave owners to protect the rights of slave owners.

Abolish DOE? To put it correctly republicans want to establish the conservative department of education where education is secondary to Christian conservative dogma. The founding fathers warned us about this.

So no one gets a real and consistent history of this country. Then kill public education and devolve into ignorance.

Has zero input over curricula. Never have had any. They can recommend curricula goals, but they cannot require, never mind enforce, any of them.

They're about things like assisting schools with funding for things like educating children with disabilities, college financial aid programs and research. They also oversee prohibiting discrimination and tracking how schools are doing on assorted metrics.

But they have never had any say about what states can teach or how.

She resigned over the 1/6 insurrection, so it's unlikely The Felon would appoint someone "disloyal." He's more likely to pick some loyal mindless ideoogue/minion.

Separate and Unequal would return.

Southern states from Texas to the Carolinas, W.Virginia, Tennessee, etc., could defund schools with larger African-American student populations by taking white students out.

By redirecting money to private charter schools will result over time in lower graduation rates. Without good education, this country will cease to be strong economically, technically, etc.

They would also eliminate PBS and NPR, something else they have been trying to do for years.

Each extra birth above stasis, due to abortion elimination, will cost taxpayers from $180K to $320K over 18 years.

Just multiply that by 10K each year and you will see the billions in extra taxes that those states must fund.

Those Red states will be insolvent in a decade.

Keep the underclass poorly educated, in debt, and under control.

Arrest many democrats... Mexico pay for the wall. Two weeks.
