That the white labor force, which has for a generation voted against their best interests, is waking up out of its slumber and is poised to protect itself on Nov. 5th. Projectile Vomit 2025 gave them a clear blueprint.
Let's fucking go, we're not going back.

Theres an old Yiddish saying, for example is not proof.
Take a step back, those are broad generalizations coupled with vague words. What exactly is the white labor force? Is that the opposite of black jobs?

(7,782 posts)While young and still new to politics, and idealistic, I voted for Reagan once. You know why? It was the promises to the military at the time. I had just gone in and the pay was trash. I had no idea one could promise something absolutely and then renege on it so completely. Yeah, I learned my lesson that time... never trust anything coming out of a repugs mouth, including my husbands. The end of innocence. Voted Democratic ever since. But there were a bunch of us at the time brand new to this. We had been the ones just allowed finally to vote at 18. I've regretted my choice ever since. And it was my choice... from a purely selfish viewpoint. That election taught me a lot... like voting in your own self interests is gonna hit you at some point. You have to think of the best for all.

they have loved republicans since the 1968 and nixons southern strategy campaign for one reason .racism. it was the driving force in the south in that election and has now become the driving force in rural america. racism is our original and enduring sin. until we stop committing this sin, we are bound to go straight to hell.

Obama brought a number of them back into the fold, although an unfortunate relapse occurred in 2016 ("her emails etc.). This time around, it seems that a degree of enlightenment is underway. Hope abounds!

(3,138 posts)This put him on the path to winning Michigan. Who lives in Macomb? It's the home of Warren, and other majority white Detroit suburbs that are working class to middle class generally.
This is who I believe the OP meant by "white labor force".
Here are some census details if you are curious:

Trump does well with these people, unfortunately. I'm hopeful, though, because Shawn Fain has done a very good job for his UAW workers, and he is vigorously making the case to auto workers that Trump is a "scab". That kind of advocacy is crucial to our chances in WI, MI, and PA especially.

(17,586 posts)I live here. There is a rabid trumper in my neighborhood and he is very "involved" in the GOP political scene though he isn't a politician. He has no morals, ethics or consideration for others. There isn't any law or rule he thinks applies to him. He once said to one of my neighbors whom I'm very good friends with that "they can't touch me because I know people higher up at the county level". The Shelby Twp. clerk is one of the fake electors. Then there's Lucido who several women have claimed harasses them at work. Lisa McClain is my rep and she had zero experience, but the powers that be ensconced her lily white, Catholic ass in the House if she would do their bidding. Her very first vote right after being sworn in was to not certify the election of President Biden.
I could go on but I don't trust the people who run Macomb County and that includes Mark Hackel who is supposedly a Democrat but when recently questioned who he'll support in the election he waffled. My memory is fuzzy on this, but wasn't his father in trouble for something when he was the county sheriff?

(3,138 posts)I don't know a ton about Macomb county politics, but I agree, what I hear isn't all that reassuring.
I'm hoping that the fact we have firm control of the state government will help us foil any of the stupid nonsense that trumpers try to pull if/when they lose.

(42 posts)I don't mean to sidetrack the conversation, but I just want to share a goofy thought. At the end of your post you said "let's fucking go!". I think I've seen a few other posters use that term recently on DU, so maybe it's a
"thing". But it makes me think of the last line of the last episode of season 2 of Shorsey where Jared Kelso ends the scene yelling "Let's set the fucking tone!" That dude is hilarious. I think I'm going to start using that phrase.

(36,568 posts)Also think about media sources that are free like FOX - they are still watching it and it's played everywhere (waiting rooms etc). They're watching and listening to the free channels owned by billionaires. Combatting that is difficult, but the difference this time might be the apps! Even in the small towns they're on their phones and watching Tik tok. That's the brilliance of Kamala's marketing team - they are going where the people are. Those of us over 50 are not quite as tuned in to the apps (personally I look at Insta and Facebook - will watch Tik tok if someone sends me a video they liked). Those under 50 (and certainly under 40) are on their phones all the time. The next challenge - getting them to the voting booths!

I think Covid changed a lot like working at home even a day if the week - Why the F havent we been doing this for YEARS?!?? People like being on their own turf and the office/workplace is the bosss turf. Thats why they want you IN there.
Plus Trump strikes a lot of people as the ultimate dick boss.

(8,246 posts)that voted for Obama, then voted for trump will come back. Youth voters are energized. Women have not forgotten that their rights have been taken away. Bigots will not reject trump. They would rather cut off their nose to spite their face. The trump base is fueled by hate. They are not going to change. They figure he will hurt the people they hate and that is good enough for them. 74.2 million people voted for trump in 2020. They saw what he was about for 4 years and still voted for him. We may peel off a few thousand - but he will still get about the same number of votes.
Our job is to energize our base. That to me is more realistic than thinking trump supporters will vote for democrats.
Folks who have never voted and folks who voted previously but do not think this economy is working for them, is where the work needs to be done.

I took a job in a grocery store. 1977. I was an athlete, I played my sports, I was blessed with the best boss ever. And I was making 13.75 an hour.
In 1977! I asked Bill, the boss, about my check,,
He told me, we are union, you have to pay your dues.
30 years later, I'm managing group homes for challenged adults,
650 a week,, salary!! I was on call,24/7 my check never changed.
Now I live on SS
Sometimes, I sit here, and think,
