Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign reached out to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign to arrange a meeting about a possible role in her administration if he drops out of the race and endorses her, a Kennedy campaign official and a Democratic official told CNN.

The approach from Kennedy’s team occurred last week, and no meeting between the two candidates materialized, the Kennedy campaign official told CNN.

The effort to meet comes weeks after Kennedy and former President Donald Trump met in person during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where the two discussed a possible role for Kennedy in a potential Trump administration in exchange for an endorsement.

If I were at the heart of the Harris campaign, I would get word to him, verbally, and very discreetly, that he might be given a low-level job in the legal branch of the EPA, and then only if a couple of conditions are met. First, he keeps anti-vax and other crazy stuff to himself, and second, if he focuses only on cases involving environmental law, which he used to teach, and actually knows something about. The slightest leak prior to the inauguration would initiate a denial and terminate the agreement. Pissing off co-workers would equally result in immediate termination. Concrete proof that his people worked behind the scenes, and discreetly to get their few followers in crucial swing states to vote Democratic, would be a requirement for the agreement to be honored.
