Grandpa came home drunk once too often, so Vance's grandma doused him with booze, struck a match and set him on fire.

I come from the same background and area of Ohio/KY/WV that JD does, but my grandmother never set anyone on fire. Guess my family's values were a little "less weird" than JD's.

As a mother, I raised kids! Cooked and cleaned house for my man! Then I worked outside the home, 2 jobs at the same time when my man was offered to leave his career job at IBM in 1992 after almost 26 years in with the promise of retirement after 30 years in 1996! We needed the money as we had two kids still in high school, Bills, etc!

As a Grandmother, I love my Grandchildren! But it was the responsibility of my children to raise them! Not me!

25. I think it's the sentence structure that's confusing.

Instead of "Vance's Grandmother remarks", it should be "Vance's remarks about Grandmothers."
Both are correct in theory, but the first lacks direction; if you don't know the context, one could think his grandmother was a bitter, emotionally immature woman who thought she would have more control and comfort in her life playing the perpetual victim and guilt-tripping him to get whatever she wanted than actually taking responsibility for her future.
Of course, she very well could have been a woman like that.
