For the longest time I was too damn young because I was only 29 when I got elected, now I'm too damn old.

(5,361 posts)Maybe coil up solar string lights (also called fairy lights) and tape behind the eyes. White ones would probably work just fine since what they will light up is already red. These are cheap and readily available.

(18,515 posts)He is one of the nicer things the heavens have delivered to Washington DC.
I hope he pardons his remaining son Hunter, after all the effort ReThugs made trying to drag him and the Biden name through every and any mud puddle. A full last minute, last Presidential act - pardon would be a fitting final spit in their Fascist faces.

(38,729 posts)I don't think the younger Biden is going to get much in the way of a sentence - for either the gun violation or the tax issues, regardless.

Looking ahead to 2028, That way, Kamala cant be held accountable for it. and you KNOW those repubs will try to hold her accountable for it.

(18,515 posts)He has nothing to lose if he clears the slate for Hunter now. Making this flaming fiasco finally - poof go away.
These bastards were hoping they could break Hunter, and get him to revisit his use of drugs as a crutch or copping mechanism to contend with all the stress unnecessarily thrown his way. These Fascists are malicious animals.

(17,622 posts)At least that's what he told the audience when he was here in Detroit. I'm not criticizing him - just pointing out that sometimes politicians have to keep a few secrets.

(5,545 posts)Hunter was charged with, lying about drug use when buying a gun or tax issues when the full amount of taxes and penalties has been paid, are things that are rarely even prosecuted, I think that Merrick Garland should recommend, after the election, that the cases be dropped. And, make a big thing of it, obviously the Republicans will. And no one will convince any of them of anything. But for the rest of the country it should be brought out that these are not things which usually result in charges being brought. Even most Democratic voters don't know that. But when purely political cases are brought anywhere in the US, it should be the concern of all of us.

(5,013 posts)Situations change. I don't think Democrats will mind if he changes his mind on the Hunter pardon after the election--- and it won't matter even if some of us do. As for what the Republicans think--- to hell with them!

None of this BS nonsense with an underlying sentiment of "I guess she'll have to do" and "well, we'll have to make the best of the hand we've been dealt" attitude... that we've heard elsewhere in other corners of the internet, youtube and social media.

His legacy is secure. One of the greatest public servants, and one of the greatest Presidents, we've been blessed to have.

(10,333 posts)I'd probably say he's the most successful political figure in my lifetime (going back about ~40 years).
Thank you, Joe.
I was with you to the very end, but you made your decision -- even if you were pressured into it -- and it looks like it may have been the right one. If so, that is just another feather in your cap of incredible political accomplishments over the course of your career.

Most importantly, he does not appear to have the anger and bitterness that Politico and other shit stirrers are suggesting. Joe loves his country. Period.

(90,021 posts)And he showed what REAL leadership looks like.
What a class act! I'm sorry he didn't go for a second term, but his White House years came too late in his life. But at least THEY CAME!!! And what an amazing way to cap a career that formally began when he was 29! He goes out on top, and he goes out a STAR.
And in my opinion, that's how it should be for a great man like President Biden.
He's visibly older and slower, but I hope he's around long enough to enjoy the hails and salutes and public appreciations he's EARNED.
