The Republican held up a standard pack of Tic Tacs in one hand -- and what appeared to be an incredibly tiny pack of Tic Tacs in the other hand -- during a rally in North Carolina Wednesday.

"This is inflation," he said of the comparison in sizes, adding that he doesn't know anything about the company, which makes mints.

But, he said, he gave them some free advertising by referencing the mints.

"They are so lucky," he joked. "This is the greatest commercial they ever had."

Trump used the mints to illustrate the surging prices of food and other grocery store items.
The problem? The small pack is one of multi-pack economy package with "pocket-sized" dispensed mints. And they are sold at Big Box stores at a hefty discount, so his point proved the opposite.
