(18,714 posts)What Trump said should be offensive and appalling to every American, regardless of political affiliation. Unfortunately, we live in a political environment that one side is deathly afraid of criticizing their dear leader, so EVERYTHING becomes political.

(17,802 posts)Ive seen it in elderly relatives of both sexes though. As people age, their internal filters fall away. They say things they might otherwise have thought about first and then not said.
In some cases they are simply out of fucks to give. In others its dimentia removing the stops.
He is now incapable of judging the impact of his statements, and says whatever he is thinking in the moment. He doesnt think how it will impact the future, just how he feels now.
He is the worst kind of person, and should never again be in a position of authority.

(41,023 posts)I see this in some people I know. They can't bring themselves to admit they were duped by this guy & the more Trump steps in it & shows what a totally deficient human being he is, they get angrier & angrier, like a feedback loop. The way out is to admit you were wrong.

(56,230 posts)he's constantly searching for the most biggest bestest superlatives you've ever seen, maybe the whole world, maybe ever.
so he couldn't just say it was the highest award a president could give.
in his pea-brain, he wanted to say it's the highest award the entire government could give, so he had to place his award higher than the congressional medal of honor somehow.
the CMoH had nothing to do with anything he was talking about, but he had to talk up himself and the MoF he bestowed and in his hierarchical way of thinking, the only way to make the presidential medal of freedom better is to mock and minimize the CMoH.
imagine the family of someone who received the CMoH posthumously hearing donnie say that the acts of heroism for which their departed loved one gave their life was "rated equal" to a billionaire donating some money to republicans.

(53,250 posts)all his comments with meandering, unnecessary fillers that often get him in trouble. He could have just let it alone, but he seems incapable of that.
