The boys keep an eye on me. Carys is still pretty reclusive but some days she hangs out in the same room as me and the boys.

I lost my sweet Sian, 3 weeks ago today. It's a hard adjustment.

If you are one of the people in one of the communities that “America is not ready for,” you won’t understand. You can try and empathize, which is good, but sometimes you need to step back and listen.

I wrote a lengthy post of how damaging it is to rail on and on about how America would never go for a gay man for vice president. One of the common replies was, “I don’t have a problem with gay people. It’s everyone else. Step out of the way so the people who know better can tell you what’s possible. Wait.”

What I didn’t successfully get across then was that this is hurtful to gay people, especially youth. I was ‘splained to so much that it wasn’t worth trying to keep up with replies. The thread became an echo chamber. It was a play on of the greatest hits - sing along if you know it - “Some of my best friends are gay.”

It became ugly, when I was told to get off my high horse. “You’re not better than anyone else.”

The problem runs deeper than this post conveys.
