Usually, when the title of an article is a question, the answer is always NO; however, I'm starting to wonder.
I've said this a few times here and it's been said elsewhere in this forum, but I honestly think Vance was selected to replace FFF 45 via the 25th Amendment.
He's the candidate of choice for hedge fund managers, crypto-bros, and, likely, close allies with the Project 2025 klan.
Is the plan to get FFF 45 re-elected, invoke the 25th, put Vance in charge, and lead America into the next great century (where things will be fixed so good, you'll never have to vote again)?
Does FFF45 know this? Has it wrecked his brain to the point of gibberish? Or is he just that stupid, lazy, and senile? Is it all of the above?

(3,750 posts)is that if he's tanking his election chances on purpose, he is less likely to get elected, so the plan won't work.

(3,235 posts)I probably should have put that in my original post.

(129,726 posts)he can be sure of that is to win the election. His problem is that he's a lunatic and a moron and he has no idea how to run a winning campaign now that he has an unexpected adversary. And his ego would never allow him to do something that would make him look like a loser.

(18,934 posts)TCF needs the power and privilege of the presidency to shield him from the consequences of his prior criminal behavior. He needs it personally, another Repug having that same power doesn't provide the same benefits to TCF.

(13,340 posts)He needs to be elected so he can cancel all his federal trials and convince Republican officials in Georgia to cancel the state trial. I cannot see him dropping out or allowing Vance or anyone else to replace him.

(26,144 posts)But, with my 2 cents, I'll venture a guess that (1) djt has a long history of failures, still does it too, by running literally nonstop w/ the selling of goods nonstop, stupid shoes, shirts and shit. Trying to always score a few bucks off his supporters (what few are left).
Project 2025 is now toxic as hell. No way any candidate running w/ this will ever get anywhere.
Vance as a viable running mate? He never was, and we can tell, he has the lowest favorability rating ever. Ever! Only tRUMP could pull this off, he wanted a pasty which is why I think (IMHO) he picked vance. vance must have done some shit to really impress the orange mango.
Is tRUMP mangling his election deliberately? No. He's not doing it on purpose. It's just in his nature (bankruptcies, loser profile, etc.). He doesn't listen to anybody, period. He's narcistic and can't do any wrong.
And Kamala is doing everything right. She's right on top of tRUMP's ignorant claims and texts w/ her own texts, emails, rapid-fire.
And she gives substantial speeches about her policies and such, vs. what the orange tango gives out, more hate, more idiot comments, more of the same junk. It'll be such a relief to get the idiot out of politics once and for all in early Nov. Like a lot of other people (and I hear this sentiment more and more), people are sick and tired of tRUMP. Literally sick and tired of him.

(2,775 posts)and they are seeing that Russia has too much power over the GOP...
I wouldn't be surprised if some within his campaign are egging on his behavior or just clearing the way for it to happen.
At the debate, Kamala should do everything possible to set him off in front of the entire country.

(1,849 posts)He desperately does not want to go to jail, and becoming President is the surest way of making sure he doesn't. It's really that simple. Even entertaining your theory, I don't see how 'tanking' his own campaign helps JD Vance become president. Doesn't that just make it more likely Trump loses the election and Vance doesn't become president?
Regardless, all these posts about Trump dropping out or in some way purposefully sabotaging himself are silly. He's not dropping out, they aren't removing him, and he's not purposefully sabotaging himself. The damage he's doing to his own campaign is because his long standing mental issues are worsening and becoming harder and harder for his handlers to hide.

(20,400 posts)But in 2016 I thought trump was enacting a parody of republicans and would reveal himself as a moderate before long. How wrong was I?
You've contradicted your own theory by saying that he needs to get elected first, before handing off to Vance, whom I agree, is a repub dream president.
