Something disturbing I noticed about myself

As I drive through my town, I see homes that are flying the American flag, and I somehow think that
these homes belong to people who support Trump. It's as if MAGA has usurped the flag as its own.
Of course I know that that's not true. I know that those flying those enormous Trump flags also fly the American flag and that creates a subliminal message. No?

How do we neutralize this without having a culture war over it.

2. The Trumpers often have some other Trumpish symbol along with a flag.

But I get what you're saying. They've co-opted the flag as their thing; we need to take it back.

And flying it should NOT be a political statement.

I live in an historic house. The man who built it for his daughter was a Civil War Captain for the Union army.
When we bought our home from the estate there was a very tall flagpole in the back yard.

They were Lincoln Republicans.
I wonder if they are rolling over in their graves knowing what their party has become.

I would like to see a new flag design, One that has not been abused by djt on a stage . In my area trumpers fly the black flack or trump flag with the flag. I am also sick of the bright LED church signs with god bless the usa or in god we trust on cop cars. Does the bible say anything about tired slogans?

From the U S Dept. of State
]https://usinfo.org/enus/life/symbceleb/flagcode.html

(PUBLIC LAW 94 - 344) Sec. 4
--snip--

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

(e) The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.

(f) The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

(h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying or delivering anything.

(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

It’s way too busy.

Canada’s flag is one of my favorites. Simple, balanced, beautiful, and the maple leaf conveys a lot with one pleasing shape. 🇨🇦

Intelligently I know it’s not true but dump and his supporters have claimed it as their’s. We need to take it back.

It’s a 48 star flag that draped my father’s coffin (WWII vet who died in 1956). My yard and car have Black Lives Matter signs and pro-union signs so anyone can tell where I stand.

I then reverently fold my flag with the help of one of my neighbors.

Not sure if anyone makes them, but the Repugs would be apalled at the inclusiveness.
