(2,560 posts)I like your nominee, and I'd like to add those two. Jones was the other candidate on Biden's short list before he settled on Merrick Garland. I wish he had chosen Jones.

On edit: An earlier poster mentioned Sally Yates. I forgot about her, but I think she would be a great Attorney General too.

(3,900 posts)I think he WAS Attorney General of Arkansas, wasn't he? He's extremely qualified. And now we don't have to worry about taking him out of the Senate.
As much as I enjoy Marc Elias as a commentator on TV and on the radio, I wonder if he's qualified to handle everything required of the United States Attorney General. He very well might be, I just don't know what his qualifications are.

And he's prosecuted and got convictions for domestic terrorists. Birmingham Abortion clinic bomber and Another one - the two men who had escaped punishment for murdering Addie Mae Collins, Carol Denise McNair, Cynthia Wesley, and Carole Rosamond Robertson . . . the little girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama.
He's the real deal.

Id be cool with Yates or anyone who will pursue white wing racists for crimes.

(313 posts)Merrick Garland may have made a fine Supreme Court justice, and that's where he should be right now. But as an AG? He's not nearly aggressive enough for me, especially given the context in which he's working. This is no time to be soft on MAGA criminals, from the fat orange guy on down. Justice delayed, as MLK said, is justice denied.

(35,073 posts)That is my red line. Enough is enough. We definitely are going to need someone to multitask with securing voting rights but I think that goes hand in hand with stopping republican crime.
