"SNIP...........
While 72% of American voters say the economy is not so good or poor, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, more than half arent blaming Kamala Harris because they say shes had limited influence on the administrations economic policies.
..........SNIP"
Think. Again.

(6,066 posts)The economy is actually doing well: strong GDP and low unemployment, BUT high prices (really due to supply issues related to Covid and then their sequential repercussions) and high interest rates (not that high historically) by the Fed to slow the economy to prevent runaway inflation, are affecting many in their wallets and on their CC bills, as well as mortgages.
Harris is rightly trying to address price gouging which is almost also certainly occuring (though it's not the whole story). Meanwhile, now that the inflation rate meets their expectations, the Fed will start cutting interest rates, helping with mortgages and CC debt (as well as future national debt).
She can call the coming lower interest rates and lower prices the effects of "Harrisomics" when the time is right in a year or so.

(24,486 posts)If the economy is doing well, then you're golden but if it is not then the finger gets pointed at you and that's what many people think. There's too much that can happen with the economy that's bad that is not within the control of the president.

(76,693 posts)Or something.
I still don't understand why it's so hard to lay the inflation on the spending surge after the drop in demand after a poor response to COVID.
If "somebody" had not publicly refer to the outbreak as a hoax, and implemented temporary price controls & modest rationing, a lot of this would gave been avoided.
But, TFG just thought magic would make it go away. (Later, of course, he tried to take credit for vaccinations the Biden oversaw.)
We even have folks here who like to remind us that a good stock market is not the economy. Not sure how they explain away low unemployment being good for workers.

(39,085 posts)had a waiting line. The more expensive ones in particular were the busiest. People complain about McDonalds prices
yet half their orders are through Doordash. They bitch about the price of a Big Mac and pay someone to deliver it, give a break
man. People are too lazy to even get out of their car and go shopping, all the best parking spots are reserved for pickup. I can see
if a person is disabled but the majority are just lazy.
I saw a guy complaining about how expensive something was.
This guy had to have 15 grand worth the tattoos.
Everything is too expensive but he has 15,000 for body ink?
He could buy an awful lot of that item for $15k.

(39,085 posts)thousands of dollars to buy tattoos and piercings and work a minimum wage job? People complain about the price of gas when if you do the math it is cheaper now than 50 years ago. You multiply the price of gas back then by the the inflation and then figure cars get more than double the MPG today it is cheaper. I have done that, always seeing posts on Facebook with gas stations selling gas for 35 cents a gallon back in those "Good Old Days". If you consider inflation and the efficiency of today's cars gas is half as much today. They don't mention people made less than $2 an hour either.
