If you haven't heard, one of his Truth Social posts had images (including AI-generated images), of alleged Swifties wearing pro-Trump shirts and an image of Taylor as Uncle Sam endorsing Trump. He said "I accept!"
If she slaps him with a cease and desist as she does on a regular basis to protect her brand, she won't need to come out and endorse VP Harris. (I think she is being careful like Dolly Parton has always been careful but their fans know who and what they support.)
It would be a big fucking deal if she does that.

(54,908 posts)Having a false impression that she supports Trump ruins her reputation commercially.

(53,994 posts)make a surprise appearance at the convention. Or both. That's the only thing his dimwitted followers might believe and even then they'd probably say it was a Taylor Swift lookalike.

(14,765 posts)Do it in front of supporters, fans....social media too. Then come out full force supporting Harris/Waltz....reinforcing how tRump stole the images...shame him over and over again.

(22,983 posts)GQP loves to take credit where credit is not due. I read daily about shithole, Vance and in general GQP/RWer lie constantly and make up shit.
This is another lie but corporate media refuses to say or write about the travesty, and RWers have absolutely no shame.
In short, RWers know it is a lie and being "good" Christians that they always claim they are, that will not change.

(296,114 posts)Donald Trump would like his followers to believe that pop music megastar Taylor Swift advocates voting red. But that may just be in his wildest dreams.
I accept! the former President posted on his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, along with a collage of images from the internetincluding some apparently generated by artificial intelligenceshowing the TIME Person of the Year dressed as Uncle Sam and saying Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump as well as numerous Swift fans expressing their support for the Republican presidential nominee
Taylor Swift has not officially endorsed any candidate in the 2024 election, though she previously backed the Biden-Harris campaign in 2020 and has criticized Trump for stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism and for defunding the U.S. Postal Service in 2020, which she described as choosing to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power.
TIME has reached out to the Harris campaign for comment on a potential Swift endorsement, as the Democratic Party kicks off its convention this week in Chicago, where a number of celebrities are expected to speak and perform in support of the Harris-Walz campaign.

(23,953 posts)lol. I try to put myself in their position, mega stars like Dolly Parton, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. obviously, their endorsements are very significant, but I wonder, especially in the last 10 years, if fear of even more death threats, rather than fear of losing fans, is what causes them to be silent.
Taylor rather famously has had media kerfuffles with Trump already, and like you said she did endorse Biden and Harris in 2020. I wonder if her still being on tour impacts her decision at all, or if the recent terror threat in Vienna is a factor too.
I take Beyoncés permission to use her song as an endorsement. lol. but many of us fantasize about Beyoncé and Taylor making an appearance via video feed at least. Women united. It would be game over, imo.

(5,340 posts)AFAIK TayTay doesn't have a trademark or any other rights over the term "Swiftie", so there's not much that can be done with that but likeness rights are absolutely a thing, and I am 100000% sure that she did not authorize the use of her image by TFG's campaign; given her financial resources (and the fact that she actually PAYS people), her legal team is probably a force of goddamned nature and it's hopefully gonna be bearing down on TFG like a Cat5 storm.

(277 posts)A search of the USPTO Trademark database for "TAS Rights Management, LLC" shows you all her trademarks. You bet Switie is among them (As is Swiftmas, lol)

(40,969 posts)You guessed it! Using his "assassination" image on their website & on merchandise like tee-shirts, mugs, & mousepads. He'll say that's different. They were trying to make money off his image; he was just having some fun.

(32,323 posts)about how TSF fears her, about how she could lead a movement of young voters to the polls.
TSF has issued veiled threats to her 6 months ago. TSF made it known to her that if she publicly endorses Harris/Walz she may pay consequences.
I see zero connection between the attempted bombings at her concert and someone who wants TSF elected president but it would not surprise me if there is some connection.
No way in hell that Swift endorses Kamala publicly now, it would change her life style, constant death threats, maybe an end to her career.
I listen to Thom Hartmann for a reason, it was on his daily show that a caller suggested how Swift could lead a movement and movements beat politicians. Smart people in TSF's campaign understand this and make no mistake what they are doing to her is mob speak.
If she were to publicly endorse Harris/Walz then hats off to her, she would be one brave lady.

(23,953 posts)especially in light of the terror threat in Vienna. on the other hand, you know she wants to say something in support of Democrats and he may have forced the issue with this latest stunt. Its possible that she will have the attitude of, fuck it, Ive already had to beef up my security, so Ill just add more. lol.
We shall see.

(313 posts)The media should be all over this too. Trump is good at losing defamation suits, and this would be a slam dunk. An outright lie, and using her picture without permission. The guy continues to get away with everything, so he's goin' for it. When will somebody shut this freakin' moron down?

(23,953 posts)the more I think about it and read others comments, I agree she pretty much has to. She could sue him into oblivion.

Then make sure he pays and DONATE it all to her various charities that help people.

(2,248 posts)We've heard for months that she'll do this or that and nothing has happened. I think the most you'll get out of her is something similar to 2020: an Instagram post, maybe with updated cookies like the Biden-Harris cookies she baked four years ago, but that's it.
I don't expect her to do much off this post and I'm not sure she's even interested in doing a rally or performing for the Harris campaign.
But it would be a great surprise if she did!

(23,953 posts)Shes still on tour and already had threats cause cancellations (Vienna).
But for the sake of legal consistency I do believe her legal team will do something. And I think any little thing will be seismic.
Self Esteem
(2,248 posts)I don't think they will do much of anything as it relates to that one photo. Maybe a statement clarifying she does not endorse him but that's about it.
We'll see, tho.

(23,953 posts)a statement that she does not endorse him will be seismic, for Millennials and Gen-Z at least. Basically anything other than silence is going to have a big reaction.

(4,528 posts)Shes probably coordinating with the campaign for best effects.
That should be completely divorced from her suing TSF.
Entertainers regularly sue and issue cease and desist orders against his campaign for illicit use of images, music, etc.
