(14,062 posts)Now six weeks away I'm filling the pressure to get on it. I've never payed a truck. I did paint our little sports card and it looked like a cartoon so I kind of shocked myself that I made it through this and it actually looks like his Odot truck I should've just painted his truck instead. It would've been easier, anyway I made it through it. My daughter will take them and have them printed. I'm not sure where the cheapest places to do that.
She mentioned Shutterfly.
Certainly is looking, happier going into retirement with the possibility of a president a brain!

(10,921 posts)My daughters have taken water colors up.
I'm enjoying their efforts.
I bought a special set of pens and water colors decades ago.
Life happened.
About 8 years ago, I bought replacement water colors
More life happened.
I'm still determined to get to it. ...

(14,062 posts)Sarah Cray is very good. I learned a few things from her. Diane Antone was my first watercolor.
Try one. does some easy stick looking birds.
A circle and legs.
Jarqui
(10,921 posts)This is roughly the sort of thing I want to try to do

Sarah Cray and Diane Antone look very good and close to what I'm going for.
I've done oil, acrylic, pastel, ink & digital
Ink and pen, that I got turned on to by artists painting in a city street, appealed the most but as I said, life happened

(14,062 posts)I went back to work and watched my neighbors losing their houses. Went back to school and got myself a job at pharmacy.
He lost his job slightly after mine had to go back to school to get a CDL. After 31 years in a factory.
Both in our 50s, having a reinvent ourselves was horrible. I was dreading the thought of all those years worked and might not even get our Social Security but I'm feeling a little more hopeful now. Pray Kamala gets it.
good to see the Republican base sinking.
I don't think either of us could endure another setback.

(12,562 posts)My husband was antsy about retirement as well, didn't know what he was going to do with himself. But he's eased into it. Before we moved out of Tennessee, my mother-in-law moved in for the last 2 years of her life. Having my husband home and having another set of hands and shoulders was a God send.
Things seem to happen for a reason. It'll shake out and in awhile you'll wonder why you were ever worried.
Enjoy!

In this one, the "no nonsense" background conveys perfectly the idea of a WORK TRUCK, and a no nonsense job.
P.S. I hate people with talent.

(1 post)Fantastic art work! Immediately honed in on the logo. I spent 8 years at the ODOT Medina facility as a supervisor and had a lot of respect for the drivers. After I went to the district office I signed up as a backup snowplow driver in couple different garages. My wife was not happy when I went out for one county in the middle of the night and another county called.
Hope you and your husband enjoy your retirement. Anybody that spent anytime in a snowplow on the highway deserves respect.
