I just clicked on to watch MSNBC and got a black screen with the message "Your TV does not support this programs content protection."
Now I can't get the channel at all.

(2,427 posts)And I enjoyed it. But ATT bought them, then all the problems started. I was unable to get A&E, History Channel, MSNBC, and other channels. I switched over to Xfinity.

(19,491 posts)Isn't Xfinity a internet service? My smart TV has prime, Netflix, Apple etc.

(76,643 posts)That's what we have. We have TV service & they are our internet access provider.
Our land line is VOIP, is free, & also comes from Xfinity.

(2,427 posts)I had Direct TV as my cable provider. But ATT bought Direct TV and I could not get certain channels. I may switch to Dish TV, I do not like the bundles.

(3,269 posts)On the tV or box. That error indicates the anti-copying signal isnt working. Try unplugging and plugging in the HDMI on the TV and direct tv box. Then turn off and on the TV and cable box

(3,269 posts)Dont buy an expensive one from an electronics shop. A new one should be about $10 or so. Just make sure it says HDMi 2.0 compliant. No need for gold plated or any of those up sells. An Amazon basics cable or equivalent will be fine.
You can also try swapping the HDMI cable around. Ive had one once that works when plug and one is plugged into the box and plug and 2 into the TV bit wouldnt work when tv has end one and box has end 2
