Frankly it baffles me how much I read people saying “I’m crying” here but it isn’t a slam on them. It’s just not how I react. I do cry at times but by and large I get extremely happy, or I get angry.

And tonight I am extremely happy. And am smiling.

But I understand that people express emotion differently and I hope we are all overcome by the great things we have to look forward to.

Cheers!

edit to add, politically the last time I cried was in 2016 post election. I don’t intend to go through that again.

as I watched Joe Biden take the oath of office. I am not one to wear my patriotism on my sleeve or to dress in flashy flag clothing. But I felt it deeply on that cold morning, how closely we had come to a fascist dictatorship and how courageously Joe had stood up to fight it.

Tonight, I felt so much gratitude and admiration for Joe for all he has accomplished in just 3.5 years, and for his brilliant negotiations, integrity, decency, and sincere concern for the nation and its people that I cried again when he stepped onto the stage after his daughter's introduction.

Lovely family moments on the stage with Joe, Jill, Ashley, Hunter, and all the grandkids. Beau dressed just like his granddad, clear to the beautiful blue tie he had on. And of course Kamala and Doug. The love was beautiful to see.

Hopefully millions of undecided voters watched and contrasted it with what happened at the Republican Convention. It was the most emotional night of any National Convention that I ever seen and I've been watching them since 1964. It made me proud to be a Democrat. Today is tomorrow's yesterday, what we do today determines our tomorrows. We either move forward or go back and we're not going back.

A very emotional evening. Damn, we have a lot of amazing people in our party. And it's only day 1 if the convention! How do they top this?
