(797 posts)just cast the votes and be on with it. I understand its supposed to be memorable, joyous, etc. Im not feeling the genuity. Many speeches are silly. I would much rather hear speeches.
Granted, I come to this with an aniti-convention bias. The conventions are boring. As someone with a high taste for all things political, there are two events I dont care forthe State of the Union address and the nominating conventions.
I didnt hear anyone at the office discussing the RNC a couple weeks ago. I picked up COVID and have been traveling so far this week, so Ive not been able to hear if folks this week to see if there is more engagement with the DNC. Hopefully so, since it has been a much more interesting last three weeks for Democrats!

(5,182 posts)Its building enthusiasm in the hall. It will soon be over and on to quieter speeches.

(2,369 posts)It doesnt matter if its not YOUR style. It is driving the vibe and the excitement, not creating a snooze fest like most roll calls. Lets understand that driving the energy is what is wanted and needed THERE, its keeping remote viewers tuned in, its keeping the ratings up at a time they normally dive, AND ITS GOING TO DESTROY DonOlds MINIATURE MIND.

(54,410 posts)I am sure it went on well before that.
It is only going to get worse I fear as there are very few younger people joining.

Too loud, but its certainly generating enthusiasm. What I didnt like was the opening acts - awful.
