He deserves to have a spot at the convention.
He was cheated out of the presidency and still went on to become a passionate fighter on behalf of the environment.,

(1,461 posts)President Clinton got a huge ovation when he spoke at the convention. Too many people remain angry about bushthief Florida 2000 and haven't forgotten about it. They post about it at the DU. It can never be forgotten. Several hundred thousand legal Florida votes from the most heavily democratic voting counties in Florida still sit uncounted in the Florida archives. This is the election stealing road map that the orange turd is now using. All of Al Gore's warnings about what a disaster bushthief would be were proven to be true. Climate change is the biggest threat humanity now faces. Al Gore is a leader on the fight against climate change. How is he not relevant? Believe me, the people in Florida haven't forgotten and neither has our planet. BTW, JFK's grandson also spoke at the convention.

(1,461 posts)and they still refuse to deal with it all these years later and despite the fact that it made the orange turd possible.

(1,461 posts)It tells me that too many dems at the national level still remain in denial about Florida 2000. We the people haven't forgotten what happened in Florida in 2000. The orange turd has clearly embraced the bushthief Florida 2000 election theft road map for his 2020 and current election stealing activities.

(24,486 posts)When is the last time we've heard from Gore in any significant way?
I don't think he has ever been the same since the 2000 election. Thanks Nadar. Of course, had Democrats and the Left simply learned to vote for the Democratic candidate, Trump never would have been elected in the first place.

(1,461 posts)The way he took bushthief to task over Iraq? His getting after Obama on environmental issues. He continues to speak out on environmental issues on a regular basis and he's also commented regularly on current events as well. BTW, he very recently endorsed the Harris-Walz ticket. He should've had a spot at the convention. Also, thank the repug SCOTUS for 2000 along with Nader. Thank Jill Stein for the orange turd in 2016. She got more votes in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin than the orange turd's margin of victory in those crucial battleground states. She was also at the infamous Putin dinner along with Mike Flynn. Both Nader and Stein got repug help in spreading their big lies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Assault_on_Reason
In the book, the former U.S. Vice President heavily criticizes the George W. Bush administration for its actions in furthering the "assault on reason". He argues that there is a trend in U.S. politics toward ignoring facts and analysis when making policy decisions, calling the Congress, the judiciary, and the press complicit in the process. Gore's prescription is that the average citizen must be proactive in "restoring democracy".

(55,334 posts)Honestly, I thought it was a mistake to let Bill Clinton go for as long as they did. Look at how much work Tim Walz got done with just a 17 minute speech. Really, anybody except the keynoter and the nominee should've been limited to 15 minutes. I don't even know who the keynote speaker was, tbh. Was it Michelle Obama? She rocked it. I also liked seeing all the new pols. Mainstream media does a shitty job covering more than the same old 6-8 members of Congress and the administration.
I'm probably unique in this, but I really enjoyed Bill Clinton's speech, even more than Barack Obama's. Obama gave a barn-burner for sure, but it was a lot more rah-rah than substance. Clinton's was thoughtful and academic. The deal is, however, that a convention isn't the place for cerebral exercises. Put him on YouTube so us fans can appreciate it. But conventions are about sales pitches and propagating the ideas that'll educate voters about why we have a better agenda for the country besides the jillionnaire tax cuts and xenophobic hysteria that Republicans favor.
I think it should be about 30% speeches, 50% pre-taped longform commercials like the ones they showed, and 20% musical guests. Entertainment and propaganda. The best "speech" of the convention was the skit Kennan Thompson did on Agenda 2025. They should've had more stuff like that: Infotainment.
