(41 posts)The Walz family have spoken openly about his nonverbal learning disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. NVLD, affects nonverbal forms of learning like the ability to notice patterns or learn concepts, including visual and social patterns as well as concepts in language and math. Because of the similar traits, people with NVLD are often confused as being on the autism spectrum and vice versa. They never considered Gus conditions an obstacle.

Not that Im trying.

(53,544 posts)It probably helps that his dad is there for him. I'm figuring that based on the photo regarding Gus passing his drivers test and dad being there.

(22,108 posts)I couldn't stop thinking that If the RW had its way, those kids would never have been allowed to exist, and no other children conceived through IVF will be allowed to exist in the future, either!
Project 2025 calls for the elimination of IVF (along with birth control, abortion, and every other reproductive freedom you can think of). In other words, the RWNJs actually want to make it so that a beautiful family like that would not be allowed to come into being. How fucking disgusting is that?
Of course, that's just one of about eleventy million reasons that the Orange Hellbeast ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT EVER be president again, but looking at those flesh and blood people and seeing how much they love each other really brought that particular issue home to me, and it made me so angry. Ugh.

(2,766 posts)The home-y scene Pete set that, as he pointed out, would have been impossible just 25 years ago, would also not be possible if Project 2025 were implemented.

(25,185 posts)Damn right I'd have been over come. Freaking out and in tears. Why? Because I love my dad and would be so proud of him.
Anyone who isn't moved by Gus' reaction is a broken human being.
