The Honeymoon is over

We have to clear eyed and realistic that the honeymoon will be over now.
The news media will now do everything in their power to defeat VP Harris to give TSF the election.

It will start slow but I expect by the time we get to the debate the news media will be in full court press mode to trash her at every opportunity and running interference for TSF at every turn. That includes MSNBC. Before it's over they will be to the right of News Max.

We have to be realistic and plan for it because it's what they always do. The news media deeply hates democracy and Democrats. They care more about the money and power of being the propaganda arm of a dictator than a free and fair press they should be.

I have a long memory. I remember MSNBC, in 2016, showing an empty podium on the main screen, that TSF would eventually be at, for over 30 mins. Think about that, 30 damn minutes on an empty podium.
All while Bernie Sanders was talking to a capacity crowd in a small inset window with no audio.

It was humiliating for our country how slavishly the news media desperately wanted his attention and I don't think a single thing has changed.

and the last few days, in particular, cheer you at all? No hope that things are on the upswing?

I am terribly cynical and remember media perfidity going back to Reagan/Bush and even earlier. But what I have seen the last few weeks is incredibly inspiring.

So yeah, we need to be aware of what is ahead. But I don't see the need to be so pessimistic! Of course I could be wrong...

But I also pay attention to the news. I know that they saw what happened last night too.

We cannot go back. We cannot make the mistakes of the past and think for a single second that the news media, no matter who it is, is on our side. Because they are not. It's not my opinion. They have shown us who they are every single day. It is 1130 PST and the new media still refuses to treat Trump like a convicted felon and rapist and traitor that he is. They refuse to hold him accountable for his statements. They refuse to hold him to the same standards they demand of the VP.

Unless and until that changes my opinion is what it is.

It's just recognizing that the news media are not our friends. I don't care what their last name is or what they have said up to this point. They will get their marching orders like everyone else. Their management, their big dollar owners, see as their greatest failure that Biden won in 2020. They are going to pull out all the stops to not make that mistake again.
They deeply hate democracy and Democrats.

I think her campaign has been pretty savvy so far & they have plans for how to fight back & stay on the offensive. Poking fun at the bully is working.

I thought last night's stage with the huge sections of gold was a fabulous yet subtle troll. It's Trump's color & something the RNC didn't think to use on their stage, & it lent an ambiance of royalty to the dem setting.

Let them steal the shine?

Nah.

Keep raising our level, keep talking about tomorrow, keep smiling, keep taking it to them, keep sending what we can, make some more calls, send just a few more post cards, take one more list of doors to knock, and run full out all the way through the tape and we are going to be okay.

We just have to earn it.

We have to make it happen but we hold the strings and can pull the lever and acting like it makes it far more likely than acting like we are hoping or worse merely wishing.

Confidence sells, we may not be able to afford to handwaive our own momentum out of fear of coasting.
We gotta do the work, that is how we translate the dreams and aspirations into reality.

Maybe a part of why some polls didn't translate as well as expected is because some folks failed to hold up their end?

I don't know if they were accounting for folks running to the finish line and deciding to zig, zag, or go in to a spontaneous voluntary coma because a weird and less than dutiful cornucopia of...reasons.

They have never done it that way. You act if what I am saying is crazy when I clearly remember 2016 and MSNBC showing an empty podium for over 30 minutes, as the main screen, because they were waiting for trump to appear, all while small screens of Hillary and Bernie in huge events was left sidelined with no audio.
I remember the news media beating up Biden, daily, for his age even though TSF is only three years younger and showing obvious signs of cognitive impairment, is still to this day being actively ignored.

in just a month. Not going to pop my balloon. We got this. Everyone here already knows we are in a fight and what is at stake. But unlike in the past, we are joyful warriors, and being joyful we are willing, strong and absolutely committed. "When we fight ... We win!!!" I prefer looking at the next 75 days that way ... as a warrior, a happy, confident warrior.

Refers to the news media. The news media has been in shock the last couple of weeks because they thought for sure she would fail, at every critical moment she succeeded in overcoming all the odds against her.
They even held their powder during the convention as they went to bed every night praying for the protests outside to become a full blown riot.

Again, that never happened.

So here we are. She successfully overcame every obstacle put before her. She as been successful way beyond any and all expectations, from both her detractors or even her allies.

The news media will now have to bring about every trick it has to destroy her because they deeply deeply hate democracy and Democrats and that isn't my opinion, it was very literally what they have been doing to Biden for months.

So yes the honeymoon may be over, especially if Harris polls far more ahead. But even Obama had to face attempts to tear him down in 2008, including the Reverend Wright scandal that questioned Obama's patriotism.

Aug 2024

If age is the most important thing then age is the most important thing.

The media created this narrative about how it's sooooo dangerous to have an old person as president. Every time any media schmuck tries to push some bullshit narrative about Harris, they need to be reminded of Trump's age, and preferably any insinuations they themselves made about Biden's lack of fitness based on age.

I trust that Dems will have a plan. But my concern about Biden dropping out was that we accepted their frame. We don't get another do-over. We need to reject their bullshit and retake the frame. They don't get to disqualify another superior option based on some bullshit they made 5 min ago, that does well in focus groups.
