Before putting the shirt or whatever in the washing machine, hand wash the makeup with Dawn. Laundry soap will do the same. Before Dawn came out, my mother used Cheer dry formula. She'd sprinkle it on, let it absorb some of the oil, then she'd dampen it and do a bit of a scrub with an old toothbrush. Came right out.

Ballpoint pen ink will come right out if you spray the stain with AquaNet aerosol before tossing it in the washing machine.

Before she went to medical school, Mom not only worked as an RN, but also did it in the old days of snow white uniforms and freaky hats. She seemed to know literally every trick to taking out everything from ink to blood to puke to urine to makeup without leaving a trace of it. I have only vague memories of her RN days, but the one thing that stood out was how perfectly white her uniform was, every single time she went to work. To pre-school me, she really did look like an angel.

I really need to log all of the old school ways she used to keep her uniforms so spotless.

I volunteer with a woman who grew up in Queens and she's about my age (75). She is a very typical woman from NYC - self-assured, not afraid to speak her mind, loud, intelligent and independent. She made an offhand comment that indicated how she was not a Trump fan, so I said something in reply to let her know that I was on her side. (Isn't it sad that we have to be so careful when dealing with this subject?) Well, she told me stories about him from back in the day and none of them were good. She said most people in Queens hated him. She said her brother worked for a construction company as a manager and Trump stiffed him out of tens of thousands of dollars after the job was complete. So her brother lost his job because of it. Then she tells me that her brother voted for him anyway even after all that and she just gives him hell every time she sees him. I asked her what his reasoning is and she said all he says is, "Ah, that was a long time ago."

So, how do you deal with people like that? She said she is just thankful she doesn't live in the same state as her brother so she doesn't have to listen to his crap very often.
