I thought, more than thought, that we had no chance if we changed the game. I was wrong. So for that, they were right, and I was wrong.
I thought, it was disloyal. Seems like most of the folk I considered disloyal, have given accolades to Biden and support to Kamala. I am still grimacing about letting this go on this count, but I can't argue with results.
I still have a few issues with a few of those who turned on Biden, but this is because they had issues well before Biden. (James Carville for example)
On the other side, this is looking like a win, the new VP is brilliant and Kamala has a good shot at saving our country and making the world a safer place. Kamala, it kind of goes without saying is the kind of thoughtful, compassionate and still hard as nails president we need.
This also give Biden the change to be an elder statesman and show once again that Democrats give us much higher quality elder statesmen.
So net win, I was wrong, and I am letting it go. I may even go back to watching Trae Crowder.

Especially the media.

POTUS Biden stood tall and remained wise.

(26,589 posts)My gripe is that they couldn't keep their comments private, something that has cost lives in military missions.
Joe outsmarted them all.
Repost:
I am sure he decided that while he could win, as many of us thought, a younger ticket has better chances.
By doing what he did, he completely bamboozled the opposition, which spent all its energy bashing him.
Joe outsmarted and outplayed everyone, for the betterment of himself, the party, and the country.
Most of all, he loses the howler monkeys, the hate machine, and the doubters, who will ALL BE FORGOTTEN, while his record, and unselfish acts will be known forever, and that's 100% wonderful with me.
Great leaders have vision that transcends the short term matters.
His vision includes a younger, revitalized party and America whose leaders are more like the populace than himself and the opposition, and who will build upon his tireless, compassionate and bold efforts to move forward with great enthusiasm, energy and resolve.
THEY WILL ALL BE FORGOTTEN BUT JOE BIDEN NOT ONLY DID GREAT THINGS, BUT OPENED THE DOOR TO A GREAT FUTURE, and he will be remembered as its enabler. Kind of like Washington and Lincoln, but those two couldn't even ride a bike.

(2,721 posts)Yet we can expect the right wing to dump on him at every chance. They never left Carter alone since they didn't want to have such a hero stand out. But I think, like Carter, Joe will continue to rise above it all.

(9,943 posts)Biggest fear didn't occur because the Party transitioned so rapid and certain to VP Harris as our candidate.
Good things with selection of Walz for VP and the great DNC convention, best convention of my life of over 50 years as a Democratic voter.
Shudder to think what was possible without a firm candidate until the convention. Chicago protesters had little negative impact on the convention. Convention planning and management was awesome.

(27,684 posts)but I still have some hard feelings because it was handled publicly. Much better to have had quiet private talks with Joe and wait for his decision.

(42,406 posts)Like maybe even before the "debate" that everyone had heart attacks over. Maybe Biden "blew' that debate on purpose because maybe he had already decided to step back and let Kamala take over.
Maybe Carville and other long-time friends started putting out feelers asking Biden to step out of the race, because maybe he secretly asked them to do that. You know? it's possible.
The result was that Chump got set up to make a very bad choice in selecting JD Vance as his running mate. Game-set-match.

(21,021 posts)I think this was planned in 2020, around the time Joe chose Kamala as his running mate. Joe could have stage managed the whole thing including the trusted Democrats who asked him to step down.

(590 posts)Wasn't very popular to be that way here. I know many wont believe this, but I wasn't much surprised by the results or Kamala.
I knew the nation was going through the fatigue of Covid and Trump and even Biden to those who don't understand how great of a job he has done.
It was very hard to take that stance but in my heart I feared of Biden Losing and his legacy destroyed.
He has the best of both worlds now and will leave with dignity and respect, and you know what??
BIDEN BEAT TRUMP!
One last time.

(26,589 posts)And just like Obama, his understudy took the leading role at a crucial time.
Joe DID take a beating, but in a way, he was and is way bigger than any of the detractors.
And how did it work out?
Trump and friends spent so much time, money, and energy (OK, hate) vilifying and demonizing Joe Biden that in a crazy way, Kamala Harris is "none of the above".
Everyone who bashed Joe Biden from the left failed to propose an alternative and on the right, they thought he would be as intransigent as themselves and set themselves up like bowling pins for the most brilliant political maneuver in ages.
Not only does Joe deserve a reward for all he's done and all he's been through, he deserves to see his work continued and expanded, like a master teacher with world-class students.

(114,674 posts)remember their nasty tone, denigration, and quite frankly self-satisfying desire to humiliate him if it would push him out sooner. Chris Hayes might be borderline on that score. NYT is almost completely irredeemable including frequent MSNBC guest reporter, Mara Gay--whose COVID-19 episode might have given her some appreciation for all that Biden did to help. I can scarcely stand to see her now, even with her generally positive commentary toward Harris. NYT "reporter" / frequent MSNBC guest Peter Baker ought to be subject to a 24-hour experience of Benjamin Buttons (in reverse) for his callousness.
And to the poster above my own, it wasn't that some DUers expressed views of concern if Biden were to stay in the race, it is the callous, no-holds-barred, abusive way that several went about it 24/7 to anyone who would listen. Not a kind word for Biden and how difficult this was bound to be for him, his contributions, or appreciation for the tremendous accomplishments he has made and will continue through the next five months. Just ugly, nasty, worst of ageist attitudes. If that was expressed, then I am glad other DUers pushed back HARD>

(590 posts)I do love Biden. He is great man. Sometimes I think we forget that we are all on the same side. We just see different paths.

(1,211 posts)This is not the time to be discussing who was loyal, or who was right, in your mind, or my mind.
Let's wait till after the election to have this discussion. It is unfair to have it right now.
Let's focus on the Election at hand.

(2,918 posts)Still think he could have won. Well of course that would depend on the media not doing more to poison the well.
Then he dropped out of the campaign and my greatest fear was that party insiders were going to fuck things up and create a circus leading up to the convention.
Very proud of the party when no one challenged Kamala Harris. More proud of how Harris and the democrats were able to organize a campaign and a fantastic convention.
So I to am over bad feeling about the folks calling for Biden to resign as well.
