...To wit, Trump thinks that devolving abortion law down to the states is a politically stable reality. It is not, because [nearly all of the right-to-life organizations have] a burning desire for a Federal abortion ban (not to mention banning IVF and even contraception)...

All one has to do is tune in to fundamentalist Protestant or radtrad Catholic media to hear their dissatisfaction and even outrage with Trump. They will accept nothing less now than a ridiculous "Human Life Amendment" to the Constitution, which is probably the only way to outlaw abortion on a Federal level. Of course, these same groups also have an open hostility to IVF and even contraception. Trump is a political simpleton, but even he understands that turning the US into another Iran is a guaranteed election loser.
