Otherwise, I'd use it to describe the news media's babbling about RFK Jr. dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump. His impact and influence on the election was way overblown and overestimated and given far too much attention. His use of his father's and his family name has been, from my perspective, pathetic. And all the duplicity surrounding his alleged campaign, when his intention was always to try and steal Democratic voters from Biden makes him even more pathetic. And as it ends up, like everything else he's touched, that, too, has turned out to be a bust.
A nothingburger. Frankly, I think it will hurt Trump more than help him.

(40,752 posts)One nut case endorsing another nut case is all it amounts to. Of course the media has to hype it up.

(29,801 posts)And Im old AF. Gossip columnist Louella Parsons coined the term in 1954, apparently. The word still works for me. Cant recall any other commonly used euphemism at the moment. When I try to come up with something in that vein, my mind wanders to the scatological. Merde soufflé flambeau, for example.

(42,660 posts)...is, of course, a nothingburger. Just like the RFK Jr story! It's the job of cable news to apply all the sloppy condimentation. And cheese.
