My legal secretary mother learned this reply from her lawyer employers. A (nearly) lifelong Republican due to Abolitionist ancestors, she backed Dwight Eisenhower. But she and her employers did not vote for Barry Goldwater. She and her employers would have hated the vicious racist entity that the modern Republican party is now, and would never have voted for Donald Trump!
