I think this was yesterday-It is real pathetic that Trump feels a need to remind folks about this family geniuses. But the genius line skipped his generation.
Donald Trump: I don't like when people call me stupid. I had great heritage, an uncle who was a great, great genius and a father who was a genius. Everybody

So weird that Donald Trump keep talking about his dead uncle who worked at MIT 50 years ago. As if that somehow makes him smart because of family blood line. I have little doubt that if Professor Trump were alive today, he'd vote like most White people with a PhD: Democratic.

(38,634 posts)I guess in Trumps world, I could claim to win golf tournaments or play semi-pro baseball, because I had an uncle and a grandparent who did those things.

True story.

(44,738 posts)I have a long gone Great Uncle who was in the KKK in Indiana in the 1920s. I accept that fact with sadness. We share the same DNA. I am nothing like him. Trump says a relative was a genius. Trump lies. Constantly. About everything.
On a much needed lighter note. Fans of Car Talk, remember when Tom or Ray would say:
MIT WANTS THEIR DIPLOMAS BACK. Now Tom and Ray were geniuses.

(56,198 posts)honestly, the fact that he bragged about passing it and claimed it proved he was smart is itself a massive red flag.
even if he passed it, most people understand it's not a test to show you're "smart" in any meaningful way; it's not an IQ test.
it's a test to see if you're in mental decline. to see if you can't recognize common animals or if your short-term memory is compromised.
"passing" it merely means you're not in decline. it shows you're mentally competent at a very basic level, not "smart" in any sense of the word.
the fact that he tries to make it sound to like it shows he's smart tells me that most likely the people around him know he's in decline and that they had to lie to him, tell him it will prove he's smart, to get him to take the test in the first place, and then whatever the results were, they told him it proved he's smart. this is a very common scenario played out in families across america when grandpa is in decline. many families don't see a point in trying to convince someone they're deteriorating mentally. they need to find a way to take away the car keys, but they don't need to be cruel.
the fact that he bought the lie is actually a pretty good indicator that he is in decline.
also, by now, that whole thing was several years ago. if he was in decline then, it's worse now. and i think it's obvious he's not the man he was 8 years ago, and certainly not the man he was when he was 40. listen to some of the old howard stern interviews. he was always a bigoted asshole, and stupid, but he was much more articulate and aware

(81,277 posts)Yes of course, the fact he was bragging and misrepresenting the test means he was most likely lying about it.
Yes such a test is just a basic screening tool and rules people in or out for dementia symptoms.
And yes his aides could have lied and embellished facts about the test to get him to take it.
I think it obvious to lay people that Trump is in serious cognitive decline.

(13,476 posts)Only way he got into the University of Pennsylvania was because he knew somebody who worked in the office there. The noted professor at Wharton said he was the dumbest goddamn student he ever had. Dont you just know that he had somebody taking all his tests for him that he paid off.
