(97,623 posts)She sure left Comer and MTG speechless.
Later in the hearing, Crockett asked what she described as a hypothetical question about what might violate congressional protocol.
Im just curious, just to better understand your ruling, Crockett said, referring to a decision made by Chair James Comer (R-Ky.).
If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebodys bleach blonde bad built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct? Crockett said, in a veiled barb aimed at Greene.

Very long story short. We moved the boy to CO and moved him home the same week. This particular aviation school offers an accelerated commercial flight program which was the attraction
but once we were there and faced with the reality of it, and the fact that the school doesnt have student support systems in place like a traditional college
such as a cafeteria, advisors and mental health service. The kiddo was in an apartment with 3 roommates that were all much older. Owen said he didnt think he could manage the stress level plus doing all his own cooking, shopping, laundry and 6 days a week of instruction. It was clear to us in that moment that he may not thrive in that environment. So, hes home
working at a local aviation company and he will begin his instruments rating program at an aviation school in Bozeman (3 hours east of here) and live with his cousin next week. Hes close to home, with family and I am so much more comfortable with this decision.
I cant tell you how touched I am that you asked.

...aviation program, and seems pretty happy with it. He's just starting his sophomore year. They have a variety of specialties/tracks. The only disadvantage is that his flight hours sometimes have to be re-scheduled because of the often crappy weather in lovely North Dakota. I expect the same might well be true in Montana.
You have spoken so eloquently about your son, and what a fine young man you think he is, that it's easy to remember that whenever I see a post from you, regardless of the topic.
3 hours away sounds much better than all the way in Colorado. And kudos to Owen for realizing he was not comfortable with things, and not trying to be macho and tough it out.
My husband is an Air Force Academy grad, and flew for the AF for 20+ years, then United Airlines for 15 until mandatory retirement age of 60, then 2 years for Net Jets, so I've been around pilots for a long time. When Owen starts seriously dating, tell him he needs to look for a partner who is not a clinging vine, as pilots are often away from home. If you are involved with one, you need to be OK being on your own a lot. I was OK with it.
MontanaMama
(24,722 posts)I just now passed along your advice on to Owen about not dating a clinging vine. It would be my guess that he wouldnt choose someone like that anyway
hes always been a bit of a loner and very driven.
Im going to look up the aviation program at the University of ND. I didnt realized they had a flight school. Is this a bachelors degree too that he is pursuing? Its good to know what opportunities are in neighboring states. ND is almost as far away as CO however. Im quite relieved that the kiddo will only be three hours away.

and the grandson is in the commercial aviation track.
At a very recent family gathering, it came to light that this grandson is a Trump supporter. His parents are horrified, and feel this may be the result of influence of the conservative attitudes of the kids classmates. Both parents are retired military, and consider themselves Independents. Their last assignment was in Cheyenne WY, and they retired there, so this kid has been in a red state for the last several years of his life.
Like Owen, he is an only child.
Everyone hopes he will outgrow this aberration. I know I would find it very difficult if either of our sons were right wingers. Happily, there is zero chance of that happening.

(2,937 posts)Love her. But...I'm puzzled about why we are the underdogs. Underdogs are defined as "a competitor thought to have little chance of winning..." As an individual, an underdog is defined as a person who has little status in society. Hm. Democrats won in 2020. The Democrat in 2016 won the popular vote. For poll fans, Harris is ahead in all national polls. How are we the poor underdogs with little chance of winning?
Other definitions: A loser or predicted loser in struggle or contest. The weaker of two competitors. And that's somehow US?
So while I may disagree with her in that, I heartily agree that--as NOT the underdog--we cannot let up for a moment. We are leading the race now, but that can change. So I am all in for giving 100% from now till we vote.
