Mom worked on 2 Nave bases, Long Beach back in the days of the Vietnam war, and Port Hueneme SeaBee base. At sunset, as the colors were struck, TAPS was always played. Even on those bases, with no cemeteries, EVERYTHING came to a complete halt. And every sunset that I was on base, tears would flow down my cheeks. Yeah, I am sort of emotional and as transparent as a window.

Never wanted to go to a high school reunion. Knew there would be too many empty chairs.
