It is coming to a grand national crescendo. The vast majority of Americans are finished with the CONvicted felon

From what I have seen and heard in the last couple days from military folks I talk to and civil servants... they can't accept him for these offenses and will not vote for him, period. Whether they go with Harris or a 3rd party or just stay home, they won't be voting for the orange ogre. I saw Rick Wilson's response and it was something I didn't expect from him but it makes the point.

Trump ASSAULTED THE US ARMY, in the person of a duly-assigned staffer.

Yes, I am fully aware that assault is breaking the law. Not only is it obvious and a well-known fact, it has also been discussed at length on this and so many other threads about the day at Arlington. I am hearing many people say, "Well, she won't press charges so that's it. The Army can't or won't do anything." I am seeing people say the Army copped out, as you did. I am also reading people like Heather Cox Richardson who are explaining how unusual and significant it is that the Army actually put out a statement. And through all the discussion of the assault, I am also curious about the consequences of all the other things those bozos did wrong at Arlington and about Arlington after the day's events were over. They're not done yet.

Before we leave the assault, with the protection of her identity, I don't even know if she's a civilian or a soldier--do you? I'm curious. The Cemetery does hire civilians, though to be a security guard you must be a veteran. If she is a civilian, they may have protocols for "employees" that differ from an enlisted person. I do not know. I will be watching. We'll see what happens. Also, it is not unusual for a woman who has been a victim of physical abuse to be accused of having "mental health issues." How many women don't press charges for all kinds of physical and mental abuse? Yes, I am aware that assault is breaking the law, and also aware of what it is like for a woman to press charges. Very aware.

I am trying to learn which other laws (and not just rules) apply specifically to Arlington National Cemetery and also to other federal and military properties.

When I am reading articles about this, here and elsewhere, I am seeing 1. the assault 2. use of photos in political campaigns 3. having campaign events at Arlington 4. Taking photos of gravesites of veterans whose survivors have not given permission 5. various forms of using all these photos. I'm sure there's more since I last scanned the news. Some of these activities break rules, some break laws that are specific to Arlington and/or other federal and/or military facilities.

All of this is starting to be combined into one blobby blur of description. The reporting is getting murky; the discussions are murkier. All media wants to cover it and everyone's trying to figure it out. (Except for the people who think they know everything. I try not to fall into that trap.)

I spent more time than I should have this afternoon reading a very long discussion between attorneys who are trying to determine exactly what laws DT and his gang broke. They are not clear yet, either. It is a topic of debate. It's kind of like this, but it's kind of like that, etc. They're having a lot of fun with it but for as long as I could pay attention, they just weren't sure.

Then there is the angle of depending on which law was broken, who would be responsible for handling the breaking of the law. Which authority? Department of Defense? Commander in Chief? Civil authorities?

I am watching to see who is picking what up. I know that at least one Senate committee that's involved with the armed forces is discussing it, and the last thing I saw (several hours ago) said that a House committee is also exploring it. I'm sure more has happened since I last scanned the news.

I will be standing by to see what happens next. Keeping it in the public eye, as messy as it gets, is critical. This event had things in it to offend so many different types of people, all of whom happen to be critical blocs of voters. I don't think it will go away as quickly as so many events have.

Sat Aug 31, 2024, 08:25 AM
Aug 2024

The press has outed (already doxxed) the name of the woman soldier who was following orders and doing her job. But there's been no mention of who are the offending staffers who did the yelling and pushing. Who broke the law, assaulted the soldier, and ignored the restrictions? Someone needs to be held accountable, and if the staff won't come forward then it guess it has to be Chump himself.

She was trying to prevent Chump and the unnamed staffers from entering the property and taking photographs for political purposes. It was clearly against the law for them to even be there. The soldier has now been named (doxxed) on social media and several krazy-kult MAGAs are threatening her. She was doing her job and following orders! Why isn't her commanding officer sticking up for her?

Meanwhile the Chump staffers who caused all this trouble are getting off scot-free.

Trump was not at the Capitol on Jan 6, mugging for the cameras thumbs-up. He chickened out and watched TV instead of his promised "march to the Capitol."

Trump was not at the gallows to knock the trap door out from Mike Pence. 🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓

Trump was not at the war memorial in France with thumbs up.
🥖 Baguettes 🥖 are unpopular with Maguettes.
And it was RAINING. Sacre Bleu!

And so on.

This time, he decided to step over and dishonor veterans, in the most ultra-weasel way.

It's a wonder he didn't take a leak on their graves. Only Pampers prevented that.

He probably has done worse things (in public) in the past, but this was the most blatant.

So much so that even "bothsider" morally neutered people had to call bullshit on his villany.

Many of them, anyway.

And by staging a photo extravaganza in a cemetery, he asked the universe to speed him to one of his own.

Anyone with even a rudimentary familiarity with carpentry can see that it wouldn't do the job.

My grandfather was apprenticed to the carpenter who had the contract to build gallows in their Wild West town back in the day. Grands never built an official gallows, because hanging went out of style by the time he was an adult. However, I do know that both his journeyman trainer and he himself would have laughed at that pathetic amateur-hour attempt at a gallows.

I am sure that it was there for some symbolic necktie photos and threats. Gruesome enough.

Growing up, we were told that a neighbor down the street hung some Nazis after WWII. I never looked up the Army MOS for that, if there was one.

I joined the Coast Guard to throw people rescue ropes. I am sufficiently wild so as not to hit them and knock them out, but the opportunity never arose.

Pardon the hyperbole. I just got my artistic license.

Don't underestimate how much this has pissed off vets like myself, there is a deep anger with us vets because of the horrific stunt he pulled at Arlington National Cemetary, so don't say that this will not change one vote, you couldn't be more wrong.

Like my grandfather who was on a Light Cruiser in WW2, island hopping in 1944-45, bombarding defensive positions and fighting off kamikazes...

And my son loading up B1b's to fight the war on terror...

I didn't have a reason to join in the peaceful 80's...

My father, god rest his soul, was one of the original Navy Seabees building and fighting his way across the Pacific also.

From listening and talking to my trucker friends, vets and non vets, this has really struck a sour chord with them, the willful blunder of Been A Dick and his entourage at Arlington will reverberate up to and including Nov 5.

I just can't fathom why that idiot would do such a thing, especially in light of the blocks of voters he's losing, he really can't afford to lose the vet vote.

Even the ones voting out of pure greed & the BS belief that "taxation is theft" are in a cult, but a different cult.

Nothing will change their vote. Because, as bad as Trump will ever prove himself to be, he they have been brainwashed to believe that Dems are worse. I mean, aside come on, many even believe Dems--as a group--are actual demons & child traffickers, and etc.

The Greed Group doesn't gaf about anything but money & power.

So, yeah, the idea that any of his true-believer supporters are abandoning him seems far-fetched.

Still, there are some who were saying in polls a few weeks ago that they'd vote for him who were not true believers. They may now be in play.

It reminds me of the constant barrage Hillary Clinton was under in the final stretch of the 2016 election although that was the product of the Far-Right's fiction machine--Pizzagate, she's dying of some undisclosed disease, she's the Queen of a pedophile cult, yada, yada.

Fri Aug 30, 2024, 06:32 PM

The Turd's egregious behavior at the Arlington National Cemetary is a slap in the face to every American family who ever had a family member serve in the Nation's military. It is a slap in the face to every spouse of every service person and to every child and every grandchild of every service person. It is a direct slap in the face to the decency and dignity of every American living and deceased. I've been to many military funerals for my Father and for my Uncles who all honorably served in WW II. They then fought those monstrously evil Fascists so that their children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren would never have to fight Fascism again. There is something real special about the formality and the pomp and circumstance of military funerals where the Nation honors its service people. The deceased's casket is draped with the American flag. There is a military honor guard present in dress uniform commanded by an Officer. Taps are played with a bugler and there is a gun volley fired by the armed military honor guard. The American flag is removed from the casket and it is properly folded into its triangular pattern. The officer in charge then presents that folded flag to the deceased's family. When the officer presents the flag to the family, he tells the family something like this: "On behalf of the President of the United States and the United States Army, this flag is presented, on behalf of a grateful nation, as a token of appreciation for your loved one's honorable and faithful service."

A lot of cults get smaller and crazier over time because people who join find reasons to leave as the cult leader gets worse and worse. You are 100% right that not everyone is going to leave the Trump cult over this. But if this reduces his support by a couple percent, that's enough. We just need to beat him by enough that he can't steal the election.

If we can do that, then Republicans can worry about how they are going to get their people to support anyone else, or whether they are going to get 83 year old demented orange man running for president from prison in 4 years. Couldn't have happened to a nicer party.
