I wish JD Vance and MAGA folks would stop being so condescending to Americans who choose to make different life choices than they would make.

JD Vances Controversial Views on Women and Masculinity Resurface Amid Vice-Presidential Run
JD Vance, the current Ohio Senator and Donald Trumps running mate, has sparked renewed controversy with comments from a September 2021 podcast interview. In this conversation, Vance asserted that professional women who prioritize their careers over having children choose a path to misery. He also claimed that American men were being suppressed in their masculinity. These remarks have reignited debates about Vances views on gender roles and their potential impact on the Republican ticket, as reported by The Guardian.
In the interview, Vance criticized women, particularly those from elite institutions like Yale Law School, for adopting a value system focused on career success and gender equity. He argued that this pursuit often leads to dissatisfaction and unhappiness. Vances statements reflect a broader pattern of controversial remarks that have emerged since his selection as Trumps vice-presidential candidate.
Criticism and Repercussions
Vances comments have not gone unnoticed. Representative Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota congresswoman and former Somali refugee, responded sharply to his remarks. She described his rhetoric as ignorant and xenophobic, adding that such language is dangerous and un-American. Omars response highlights the broader implications of Vances comments, particularly his critique of womens roles in society and his views on immigration.
Since his vice-presidential nomination, Vance has faced increased scrutiny over his past statements, particularly those concerning women. Recently, his campaign encountered backlash over previous comments in which he criticized a teachers union president for not having children and referred to Democratic leaders as childless cat ladies. These comments have complicated the Trump campaigns efforts to appeal to suburban women, a crucial demographic in the upcoming election.

That's why I'm happily single, childless, and free of an Overlord.

Pissing off over 50% of the voting electorate is not a winning strategy. The more this asshole denigrates women, the more they will vote for Kamala. She TRUSTS women!

(1,213 posts)The women who were the most miserable when I was growing up were married women with children.
At the upscale neighborhood where I lived, over half of the housewives with kids were either passed-out-by-prime-time alcoholics or hooked on downers and/or uppers.
Or both.
Their kids all but lived at our house, because they said we were the closest thing to the mythical happy family that they knew of, never mind how my mom was a doctor who worked very long hours. Funny, working in a rewarding career made her quite happy. So happy that she didn't need prescription drugs to get through her busy day, and she drank alcohol only at parties on the weekend.
Meanwhile, the junkie housewives looked down on her, and said she had to be a bad wife and mother, because she'd (gasp!) been divorced in the past and (yikes!) not only worked, but also (horror of horrors!) had a CAREER. Evil slut, for sure!
That's really how other women treated my mother for daring to live life on her terms, no one else's.
